      IN THE NAME OF GOD Amen, the third day of February 1686/7.
      I RICHARD SMITH being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory praised be given for the same, and knowing the uncertainty of this life on Earth and being desireous to settle things in order do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally I commend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and remission of all my sins and be saved by the precious death and merritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken to be beried in such decent and Christian manner as to my Executors hereafter named shall be thought meet and convenient, and as touching my worldly Estate which god in mercy hath lent me my Will and meaning is the same shall be Imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my Will is expressed; And first I do revoke renounce frustrate and make void all Wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this my last Will and Testament.

      TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE to whome these presents shall come HENRY WOODNUT of the County of Rappa: send Greeting &c. Know yee that I the said HENRY WOODNUT for Two thousand pounds of good sound merchantable Tobo: in Caske to me paid by RICHARD SMITH of said County of Rappa:. Plantr.. have sold unto the said RICHARD SMITH his heirs One hundred and seaventy acres of land formerly taken up and Pattented by HENRY BATTLE bearing date the Eighteenth day of Aprill One thousand Six hundred Seaventy and two, One hundred acres of land out of the said Pattent being given by the said BATTLE to REBECKA COX, Orphan to NICHOLAS COX deced, as pr Deed of record bearing date the fifth day of March 1672/3 may appease the said land being on the South side of the River back in the woods joyning to the land of SHARPE, HILL and Mr. JOHNSON bounding as foil: at a marked rooty Gum in the line of SHARP in YORKER SWAMP and runing by his line S. S. E, thence S. E. to a white Oake by a small pond, thence W. to CHESEACK PATH & along the PATH to BRIDGERs Corner tree Southerly to the Swamp against HILLs House; thence down the said Swamp the several! courses & along Mr. JOHNSONs line to the rooty Gum where it first began; To have and to hold the said One hundred and Seaventy acres together with all rights belonging to him the said RICHARD SMITH his heirs from me the said HENRY WOODNUT my heirs as alsoe from all claiming under said HENRY WOODNUT & will warrant unto the said RICHARD SMITH his heirs forever as alsoe from the Deed of BATTLE to REBECKA COX, he the said RICHARD SMITH paying dues that shall be demanded for quitrents to his Majties order In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale this 3rd day of April 1683
