      THIS INDENTURE made the 19th day of May in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty three Between DAVID GRIFFITH of County of ORANGE, Planter, and MARY his Wife of one part and JAMES DAVIS, Planter, of County of King George of other part; Whereas THOMAS HARRISON, formerly of Overwharton Parish in STAFFORD County by his last Will &Testament dated the 10th day of November 1727 proved at the Court of said County at the succeeding March Court, did among other things devise & give unto his Daughter, CATHARINE HARRISON, Eighty acres of land then joining on Mr. RICHARD FOLEYs to her and her heirs. And if in case she died without any heir then to fall to the next heir; And Whereas said CATHARINE died without issue whereupon the title to the said Land vested in the heirs of the three Sisters of the said CATHARINE, who are likewise mentioned in the said Will, to wit, JANE, FRANCES & ANN And Whereas the said DAVID GRIFFITH is Son & Heir of the said ANN by virtue of which premises the said DAVID GRIFFITH is intitled to one undivided third part of the aforesaid eighty acres of land amounting to twenty seven acres; NOW THIS INDENTURE Witnesseth that DAVID GRIFFITH and MARY his Wife in consideration of one thousand pounds of merchantable Crop Tobacco to him in hand paid by JAMES DAVIS, by these presents do bargain & sell unto JAMES DAVIS his heirs one third part of the aforesaid Eighty acres of land amounting to about twenty acres of land more or less and the rents issues and profits thereof, To have and to hold the undivided third part of eighty acres unto JAMES DAVIS his heirs and DAVID GRIFFITH and his heirs shall warrant & defend the one third part of eighty acres of undivided land unto JAMES DAVIS his heirs against all persons; In Testimoney whereof they the said DAVID GRIFFITH & MARY his Wife have hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year above written Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of
      Received of JAMES DAVIS the within mentioned sum of One thousand weight of tobacco being the consideration to be paid by him to me.
