      THESE P:SENTS Wanes that I BERTRUM OBERT doth hereby authorize & impower Mr. CUTHBERT P0TTER of the County of Lancastr: for me & in my place & stead to acknowledge a Deed of Conveyance of a Neck of Land about two hundred acres sold to Mr. JOHN VAUSE & bearing date wth: these presents at the County Court of Lancastr: any time vthin six months if required & whatsoever he shal lawfully do herein I do fully & absolutely ratifye & confirme as if I were psonally p:sent. Whereas the said BARTRUM OBERT by the last Wil & Testamt, of his Father, BARTRUM OBERT late of the sd County deced, had a smal Neck of Land containing about Two hundred acres bequeathed to him as by the sd Wil of his Father doth more fully appear And whereas the sd BARTRUM OBERT deced was an ALIEN & no free borne subject so that the land was escheated to his Matie, but upon Petition to the Honble FRANCIS MORRYSON, late Governor & THO: LUDWELL Esqr , Secretary, both Depty. Treasurers of his Matie here in Virginia the sd land was granted to the sd BARTRUM OBERT according to the Wil of his Father deded according to his petition on the 27th of 7br: last past at JAMES CITTY & the Office since found according to the Law; Now Know pee that the sd BARTRUM OBERT hath for good consideracon in hand paid by JOHN VAUSE the receipt whereof the sd BARTRUM OBERT doth hereby acknowledge & therefore acquit the sd JOHN his heirs Exrs. & Admrs. given & confirm unto him the sd JOHN VAUSE all the sd Neck of Land according to its full bounds exprest in the Wil of his Father deced wth: all rights & priviledges wt:soever thereunto belonging in as ful & ample maner as he the sd BARTRUM OBERT by the sd Wil or by the grant of his Matie & his Deputies could or might lawfully claim, To have and to hold the sd land with all appurts. unto him the sd JOHN VAUSE his heirs & assignes to the only p:per use & behoof of him the sd JNO.       WHEREAS ROBERT BEVERLEY & RICHARD ROBINSON Gent stand joyntly and Severally bound by there Acknowledgmt: in open Courts held for ye County of Middx for me JOHN LINDSEY my Due Admestran: of that parte of ye estate of Mr, ROBERT CHOWNEING deced (to Say the halfe thereof) put into my hands in Right and to ye use & Several] uses in equal fourth partes of THOMAS CHOWNEING, ROBERT CHOWNEING, KATHERINE CHOWNEING and ELIZABETH) now Wife to me the said LINDSAY, I doe therefore hereby to Secure & Save them and either of them the said ROBERT BEVERLEY & RICHD. ROBINSON there or either of there Heires from being hurt harmed, molested or troubled, in any Manor of way to theire losses by reason of there being my Suraty as aforesd Binde & make over unto them the said ROBERT BEVERLEY & RICHARD ROBINSON or either of them (to say) the Negroes belonging unto me named (Vitt). a Negro Woman named Pugg now wth child; a Negro Boy about Eleaven yeares of age named Robert, a Negro girle about ffoure yeares of age named Betty, Also all my Cattle wch are now number Twenty two head besides Calves,. alsoe all my Stock of hoggs more or less, Alsoe all my Right to and in that Plantation whereon I now live To be seaized & taken by them or either of them soe farr as shall really and fully Indemnifie them or either of them, whensoever they shall be any wayes Damnified by reason of there being Securaty as aforesd; And I doe further declare that it neither now is nor from henceforth shall be in my power or by any maner of wayes or meanes Lawful! for me to dispose or pass away any parte of ye above named Negroes Cattle Hoggs or Plantation without first haveing Lyberty from ye sd ROBERT BEVERLEY & RICHARD ROBINSON or either of them, and this I desire may be by my Auoeney Mr. JOHN VAUS be acknowledged in open Courte the next County Courte held for Middx. if I stay in the Country to doe it my selfe, That it may thereby be made the more Authentique and may accordingly pass into Record. Attorney in my name and to my use to aske demand recover & receive every such debts goods or Marchandizes as shall appeare to be due unto me fm. Virga. either by Bills or otherwayes and upon receipt doe give full power unto my aforesd Attorney, Acquittanees and Discharges to signe, and I doe further impower my said Attorney to have ye Managem: and Ordering of my Plantation, Servants and what else is thereupon. as alsoe in Ordering & giveing Instructsions unto my Overseer in Relation to ye well Manageing of a Cropp of Corne &Tobaccoe and all other my concernes whatsoever he shall Legally act or doe & I doe hereby ratifie & confirme & allow of as if I were personally present.       WHEREAS I RICHARD COLEMAN of the County of Rappa. in Virga by a Bill of Sale bearing date the fourth day of June 1655 sell unto WILLIAM VEAL & JOHN VAUX & their assignes a tract of land containing Six hundred acres lying in the County aforesd and I do acknowledge it was then the Intent of me the seller to make them an Estate of Fee Simple in the lands so sould to them which sd words (their assignes) will not do it in Law, Now Know all men by these presents that I the sd RICHARD COLEMAN for the consideracon do sell unto the sd WM VEAL & JOHN VAUX and their respective ayres forever the sd Six hundred acres of land mencioned in the former Bill of Sale confirming the sd former Bill of Sale with the addition of these words to them & their Respective heirs for Ever In Witness whereof I have set my hand & seal the 7th day of October 1663
