Maj. THOMAS BEATTY, of this town.-A revolutionary officer. he distinguished himself during the perilous conflict for independence. He hsa left an "extended circle of sympathy" to lament the death of the affectionate husband and father. the sincere friend and patriot. [DFR:2 MAR 1815, Thursday, p. 3]

BEATTY, Thomas (Middle Monocacy). Appointed by the Committee of
Correspondence to solicit subscriptions in 1775 to purchase arms and
ammunition [Ref: I-86]. Served on the Committee of Observation in
1775 [Ref: I-85]. Associator in December, 1775 [Ref: E-164]. Juror to the
Oath of Allegiance in 1778 [Ref: C-22]. Commissioned an ensign in
Middle District Militia on March 26, 1776 [Ref: W-199, W-287]. Captain
in the militia from May 12, 1779, to 1781 [Ref: H-15, B-52]. Served in
the House of Delegates in 1781 [Ref: F-479]. Mrs. Thomas Beatty died
on April 30, 1805 [Ref: F-470, N-57].
