      At the request of John Bateman, the tollowinq lease was recorded on Apr 29, 1748.
      Apr 6, 1743 from William Courts of CC, to John Bateman of CC, the lease of 150 acres on the east side of a swamp where formerly Elias Dod lived as tenant to Mr. John Courts. This is a 21 year lease, with liberty of cutting any timber for the use of sd plantation, that is to say, for building or fencing on the plantation. Bateman may clear any ground for his use. The yearly rent is 830 lbs tobacco. Bateman is to plant 100 apple trees. Signed - William Courts, John (+++ his mark) Bateman. Wit - William Penn, John Penn.
