      This Indenture made 31st day August 1703 between THOMAS CLIFTON of Stafford County Gent. of the one part and MARY WATKINS of Prince Georges county in Province of Maryland Widow .. Witnesseth that in consideration of rents & covts hath farm lets 200 acres of land being part of a tract of land called Cliftons Neck lying upon Plum tree point in Stafford County beginning at a bounded white oak standing by Potomack River side on East side small swamp about a Quarter of a mile below Plum Tree polar running thence North into the woods 179 pearches to a bounded hickory on a Plain thence East 270 perches to a bounded red oak thence 5=130 perches to a bounded poplar standing by Potomack near an ashen swamp thence with the river to the first bound tree conta 200 acres of land more or less .. to have and hold during natural lives of MARY WATKINS, EMME her son and the said THOS. CLIFTON & the longest liver of them paying the yearly rent of two fat capons upon every Easterdav if the same shall be demanded ..
