1791-1793 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber JRM 1 [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 359. At the request of Stephen Belt the following Decree & Deed was recorded November 17, 1792
It is decreed this November 14, 1792, by the High Court of Chancery that the petitioners annexed deed executed May 10, 1788 by Benjamin Belt for conveying "Smiths Purchase" and several other tracts unto Stephen Belt within 6 months be recorded. AC Hanson, Chancellor.
Indenture made May 10, 1788. Benjamin Belt in consideration of the love and affection which he hath and beareth to his son Stephen Belt and 900 pounds current money of Maryland has sold three contiguous tracts; "Smiths Purchase" containing 138 acres and "Smiths Field" containing 138 acres which two tracts were formerly devised to Benjamin Belt by Benjamin Belt his grandfather by whom they were purchased of Samuel Smith {1730}; and one other tract "Hope" originally granted to Benamin Belt for 7 acres {Patent Record EI 6, Page 15, 1737}.
