I, Samuel Berrey of CC, surgeon, for the affection I have for my son-in-law, John Robey of CC, planter, and also because the said John Roby is to find and allow me a complete maintenance diet, apparel, lodging, and other necessaries during my natural life, I have given said John 2 feather beds and furniture, 1 wooden cupboard, 2 iron pots, 1 iron skillet, 4 pewter basins, and all my other personal estate that is now in my possession.       Deed of gift, recorded May 26, 1737. I, Mary Cawood of CC, widow, for 5 shillings and for the natural love I have for my son-in-law, Ralph Roby and Penelope, his wife, and for divers other good causes, I have given Ralph and Penelope a certain Negro girl which I now have in my possession called Jenny, about 8 years old, to be delivered to them after my death. If the said Negro should have issue, then said Ralph Roby and Penelope, his wife, are obliged to make over to my daughter, Anne Thomas, wife of John Thomas, and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten, the 1st child that shall be born of sd Negro Jenny, and the 2nd child to my daughter, Mary Villett, wife of Charles Villett and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten. I warrant the abovesd Negro girl and her increase (except the children above mentioned) to said Ralph Roby and Penelope, his wife (after my death as is abovesaid) from me, sd Mary Cawood.       CC. We, the undersigned subscribers, for the natural love we have for our mother, Sarah Robey, widow, and for sundry other good causes, do give our part of the goods and chattels which fell to us by the death of our brother, Peter Roby, late of CC, deceased, to sd Sarah Roby, widow, after his debts are paid by the administrator.
