      THIS INDENTURE made this 21st day of july in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven Between BLACKLEY MARTIN and MARY his Wife of FREDERICK County and State of Virginia of one part and MATHEW MADDOX of Culpeper County of other part; Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Twenty five pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid. said BLACKLEY MARTIN and MARY his Wife have sold unto MATHEW MADDOX One hundred and fifty acres of land lying in County of Culpeper on South side of BLUE RIDGE. it being a part of a tract granted MARY MARTIN in the name of MARY RYLEY and of FREDRICK County from the Office by Patent of Right Honourable THOMAS LORD FAIRFAX dated 1769, December 16th. registered in book 0, Folio 245. and doth by these presents sell and acknowledge unto MATHEW MADDOX the North Wt. end of the tract of land, Begining at a corner of ROBERT ASHBY of one red Oak and Chesnut on South side of BLUE RIDGE, thence South 11 E. 54 poles, thence leaving the said line and crossing the said Tract S. 55 Wt. 188 poles to two Hicories and two Chesnuts at the Corner of said MARTINs Fence, thence the several courses of the Fence runing S. 48 Wt. 28 poles. thence S. 25 Wt. 16 poles. thenc S. 8 poles. thence S.lO Wt. 22 poles, thence S. 37 Wt. 12 poles. S. 16 Wt. 16 to the outline on the INDIAN RIVER at two small Hickories one Chesnut Oak and a Spanish Oak marked by said MARTIN. and sd. ELLIOTT, thence with the sd.line up the
      River to the corner of a Hickory Gum and Elm. thence to the begining, with all ways waters and orchards and appurtenances belonging; To have and to hold clear of all incumbrances for the time being as gifts sales dowers arrearage of rent issue and all other Incumbrances whatsoever.
