      THIS INDENTURE made the Sixteenth day of June in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty three Between GEORGE CRUTCHFIELD of County of Spotsylvania of one part and PHILLIP LIPSCOMB of the Town of Fredericksburg, Bricklayer, of the other part; Witnesseth that the said GEORGE CRUTCHFIELD of his own free will and the consent of the Corporation Court of the aforesaid Town doth bind himself Apprentice to the said PHILLIP LIPSCOMB untill he shall arrive to the age of twenty one years he being (blank) during which time the said GEORGE CRUTCHFIELD shall truly serve his said Master, not absent himself unlawfully or without leave of his said Master, not see! or lend the goods of his Master but as a faithful Apprentice give notice of the same to his said Master; Taverns or any other disorderly meetings he shall not frequent, Cards, dice or any other unlawfull games he shall not play, fornication he shall not commit or Matrimony contract within the term of his Apprenticeship, his Masters secrets he shall truly keep and all his lawful! commands gladly obey and in every respect behave himself as a faithful! Apprentice during the said term; And the said PHILLIP LIPSCOMB on his part doth agree to teach reading writing and arithmitic and the art trade and mystery of a Bricklayer, which he the said PHILLIP LIPSCOMB now useth and provide sufficient meet drink washing cloathing lodging and all other necessarys during the said term; In Witness whereof the parties above mentioned have set their hands and seals, GEORGE CRUTCHFIELD, PHILLIPS LIPSCOMB
      At a Hustings Court held for the Town and Corporation of Fredericksburg on Monday the Sixteenth day of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty three
      This Indenture of Apprenticeship was acknowledged and ordered to be recorded Test H. ARMISTEAD, Clk.
