Turberville to Gill Indenture
This indenture made the 17th of June 1771 between John Turberville of the County of Westmoreland, Gent., of the one part and Edward Gill of the Parish of Cople and County of Westmoreland, planter of the other part. Witnesseth that John Turberville in consideration of the rents and conditions has demised and to farm let unto Edward Gill, one tenement of land containing by estimation 127 acres, lying in the parish of Cople in County of Westmoreland known by the name of Beards Old Field. To have and to hold tenement and appurtenances unto for and during the term of natural lives of him the said Edward Gill and Sarah Gill his now wife and to the survivor’s or longest liver of them, yielding and paying yearly and every year on the 25th day of December, if demanded, the net quantity of 1000 pounds of good crop tobacco and cask, the said tobacco to be paid at such convenient warehouse in the said county of Westmoreland as the law shall appoint for the payment of tobacco debts. In witness whereof the parties within named to these presents have hereunto interchangeably seth their hands and seals the day and year first within written.
