      In the name of God Amen, I GEORGE STROTHER of the County of Culpeper & Parish of Brumfield being perfectly in sound mind & memory .. do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner and form as followeth that is to say First I recommend my Soul to almighty God ., my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors. What worldly goods it has pleased God to bestow me I give & bequeath the same as followeth, Vizt.
      Item I lend the land & plantation I now live on to my wife MARY STROTHER
      Item I give the land I bought of HENRY GAMBILL & CAPT. JAMES KENNERLY to my two suns JOHN STROTHER & GEORGE SMOTHER to be equally divided at there own expences.
      Item I give to my Daughter MARGRET STROTHER the land I bought of WM. BAKER being one hundred acres upon Kennerly's Mountain.
      Item I leave my land laying on the Little Pass Mountain to be sold in order to pay my debts & my Executors hereafter mentioned to execute Deeds for the land.
      Item I lend my wife during her widowhood all my personal estate in order to enable her to raise & educate my children on & if she marrys then my will is that my personal estate shall be equally divided between my wife & three children or if any of my children dies before such division without lawful heirs then to be divided between my wife and such of my children as shall be alive.
      Item If my wife dies before she marreys I leave all the personal Estate then remaining to be equally divided between my children then living or if any of them are dead before such division & left any lawful heirs that such heirs or heir shall have their Parents sheare of the said Estate.
      Item I Constitute & ordain JAMES Kennerly, JOHN STROTHER, FRANCIS STROTHER to be my Executors of this my last Will & Testament .. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of June 1767.

      At a Court held for the County of Culpeper on Thursday the 20th day of August 1767
      This last Will and Testament of George Strother decd was exhibited to the Court by John Strother James Kennerly two of the Executors therein named & was proved by the oath of Joseph Poindexter and John James Kennerly two of the witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Exors. Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form they having sworn to the same & given Bond & Security according to Law, Liberty being reserved for the other Exor. to join in the Probat when he shall think Fitt.

      THIS INDENTURE made the 7th February 1775 Between WILLIAM GAMBELL of County of Culpeper of one part and JOHN & GEORGE STROTHER of same County Orphans of GEORGE STROTHER Decd of other part Witnesseth that said William Gambill in consideration that George Strother Decd did in his life time Purchase of HENRY GAMBILL Father to the said William a parcel of land in County of Culpeper being part of a tract sd Gambell purchased of THOMAS KENNERLY and part thereof being part of a survey made by Mr. RICHARD YOUNG for Henry Gambill containing 232 acres and 76 acres thereof lies in the new survey which said survey William Gambill has obtained a Deed for from LORD FAIRFAX and doth hereby grant unto said John & George Strother sons of George Strother and to their heirs piece of land containing 76 acres Begining at a white oak on a Branch in Gambills old line runing N. to three oaks on top of KENNERLYS MOUNTAIN thence N. to two chesnuts Corner to THOMAS BAKER then with his line N. to three red oaks Thomas Kennerlys Line with his line So. to the Begining . .

      THIS INDENTURE made this 18th day of July one thousand seven hundred and ninety one Between (this Indenture is similar to the previous two for the same purposes and the conditons promoting the sale of the land repeated and GEORGE WHEELER became the purchaser); of Three hundred & two acres of land (in said County by Patent granted to JOHN STROTHER and by him conveyed by Deed of Gift to said JOSEPH STROTHER for the sum of Thirty five pounds & is bounded; Begining at. two Chesnut Oaks corner to JOHN, JACOB, PHILIP (? JERIAN) on the North side of BAKERS MOUNTAIN and runing thence North 38 West 180 poles to a Locust & Chesnut Oak in FRANCIS TYLER`s line, thence with or near his line South 55 West 186 poles to two Chesnut Oaks on the West side of the WOLF MOUNTAIN, thence with or near HENRY TYLER's line South one East 208 poles to a large Chesnut Oak on the West side of the said Mountain, thence North 89 East sixty poles to a Poplar & Hickory on the East side of said Mountain, then South 49:30 East 1259 poles to the begining; NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that JOHN THORNTON, JOHN THOMPSON, JOHN STRODE, HENRY HILL & JAMES PENDLETON, the Commissioners who conducted this business, in consequence and by virtue of the power to them given by the recited Act and in consideration of the sum of Thirty five pounds in hand paid for the use of the Commonwealth have bargained & sold unto GEORGE WHEELER the aforesaid Tract of land with its improvements & appurtenances to hold to GEORGE WHEELER his heirs in fee; In Testimony whereof the said Commissioners in conformity to the Act have hereunto set our hands & seals the day & year first written

      THIS INDENTURE made the 9th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Eighty nine Between GEORGE STROTHER of one part and JAMES WHEELER of other part; Witnesseth that GEORGE STROTHER in consideration of the full and just sum of Two hundred & twenty five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid, by these presents doth bargain & sell unto JAMES WHEELER his heirs a certain tract of land containing Two hundred and Ninety four acres be the same more or less, it being one equal half of Two tracts of land left by GEORGE STROTHER deceased to his two Sons, JOHN & GEORGE STROTHER, which said GEORGE STROTHER has conveyed a Deed for his part unto JAMES WHEELER, lying in the County of Culpeper lying on North Fork of the RUSH RIVER and on South side in the State of Virginia one tract of which land containing one hundred and fifty six acres conveyed to said GEORGE STROTHER deceased by JAMES KENNERLY & Wife; Begining at two white Oaks on South side of North Fork of RUSH RIVER and runs thence South eight degrees West 160 poles to two red Oaks near the head of a Steep Bottom on South side of MOUNT DELIMORE, thence South 22 degrees East 49 poles to a red Oak, corner to HENRY GAMBELL, thence with GAMBELLs line North 69 degrees East 86 poles to two white Oaks, another corner of GAMBELLS, thence with his line South 59 degrees East 112 poles to three red Oaks & one white Oak on side of a Glade, thence North 20 degrees East 76 poles to two white Oaks on the River, thence up the several courses of the River to the be-gining; it being part of a Tract granted to JAMES KENNERLY and others for 1750 acres bearing date the 19th day of July 1735, likewise part of 354 acres of land granted to JAMES by Deed from the Proprietors Office bearing date the 8th day of Augsut 1749, as by said Patent & Deed will more fully appear, also the other tract of land containing Four hundred & thirty two acres adjoining the aforesaid Tract conveyed to said GEORGE STROTHER deceased by HENRY GAMBELL, Begining at two Chesnuts near the top of a Mountain in BAKERs line & JAMES KENNERLY, thence with KENNERLYs line South 70 degrees East 205 poles to a red Oak on side of a Mountain called MOUNT DELIMORE.. corner to KENNERLY, thence North 69 degrees East 86 poles to two white Oaks, another corner of KENNERLYs, thence South 60 degrees East 132 poles to MINORs line on side of a Branch near to a Maple, thence with MINORs line South 46 degrees West 262 poles to a white Oak in MINORs line near the side of a Branch, thence leaving said line runs thence North 53 degrees West 100 poles to a large red Oak and two red Oak saplins on a Ridge, thence North 72 degrees West 222 poles to three white Oaks on top of GAMBELLS MOUNTAIN, thence North 46 poles to a white Oak & red Oak in BAKERs line, thence to the begining, it being part of the said lands granted to sundry people as will more fully appear by said Deeds; To have and to hold the two hundred & Ninety four acres of land together with all waters courses profits & advantages; To have and to hold the land & premises unto JAMES WHEELER his heirs and GEORGE STROTHER doth oblige himself his certain Attorney his heirs &c., to warrant and defend the right and title of said tract unto JAMES WHEELER his heirs against all claims of any persons; In Witness hereof the sd.
