THIS INDENTURE TRIPARTITE made 6th day of October 1777 Between CHARLES GRYMES of the Town and County of YORK of first part, BENJAMIN GRYMES of County of ORANGE and SARAH his Wife of second part and ALEXANDER WAUGH of County of Culpeper of third part Whereas the Honourable PHILIP GRYMES Esquire being in his life time and at time of his death seised in about Twelve thousand acres of land in County of Culpeper formerly Orange County by his Last Will and Testament did devise the same to his two sons the said Charles and Benjamin to be equally divided between them as by said Will duly recorded in County of MIDDLESEX and Whereas said Charles Grymes hath for the consideration mentioned sold to Alexander Waugh Five hundred and twenty four acres bounded as hereafter mentioned being part of said twelve thousand acres of land to which sale said Benjamin Grymes is willing to Testafy his consent by hereby releasing any claims he may have to the same NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that Charles Grymes for sum of Three hundred and thirty pounds current money and said Benjamin Grymes and Sarah his Wife for sum of Five shillings current money to him paid have granted unto said Alexander Waugh his heirs said Five hundred and twenty four acres in County of Culpeper which by a Survey and plan thereof made by Mr. FRANCIS BOURN is bounded begining at a white oak on the Great Run Corner Lott thence North to three small red oaks in TERRILLs line thence with his line North to FRYS ROAD Corner to JOHN CLARKE at two red oaks thence SW along Fry's Road to a pine Corner to WILLIAM CLARK thence South along the road to a white oak on the Great Run and on the Lower side of the road thence down said Great Run to the Begining . .

Culpeper Sct In the name of the Commonwealth of Virginia to ROWLAND THOMAS and CATLETT CONWAY Gent Whereas Charles Grymes of County of GLOUCESTER and Benjamin Grymes and Salley his Wife of County of Orange have sold five hundred and twenty four acres of land in County of Culpeper unto Alexander Waugh and Whereas said Salley cannot conveniently travel to our Court of Culpeper to make acknowledgiement of said conveyance we do therefore command you that you go to said Salley and examine her apart from her husband and whether she doth the same without his threats and when you have received her acknowledgment that you certify us thereof in our said County Court Witness JOHN JAMESON Cik the 28th day Febry & in the year 1778.
Orange to wit By virture of the Commision we the Subscribers on the 28 February 1778 did go to Salley Grymes and haveing Exd. her apart from her husband do certifie that she declared she volentarily acknowledged the conveyance .
