      1744-1778 Orange County, Virginia Will Book 2: [John Frederick Dorman]: Pages 397-98.
      Will of Gerard Banks of the County of Orange being sick and in a very low state of health, dated 9 April 1767.
      A tract of land containing 111 acres lying in Culpeper County near Stanton's Mill, it being part of a tract formerly belonging to Simon Thomas, be sold at publick sale to the highest bidder for twelve month credit in order to discharge my debts.
      All my other lands and all my other estate equally divided between my beloved wife Francis Banks and my child which she is now with child of, be the same male or female.
      In case my child should die izi.thout heir then its part of my estate should descend to my beloved wife. If my wife should die without heir (other than that which she is with child of) her part to return to my said child.
      In case my wife and child and all the heirs of their bodies should decease, all my estate shall descend to Sarah Strother the mother of my said wife during her natural life and after her death to my loving brother William Banks, and for want of heirs to my brother Reubin Banks.
      My loving brother Linn Banks and my beloved wife Francis Banks executor and executrix.

      25 Aug. 1768. Produced into Court by William Pannill with a note from the executors who declared they would not act and that they are willing that Deker Thomson should administer upon the estate. Proved by Wm. Pannill, Nathl. Modeshed and Mary Methershed.
