      At Vawter's Church in Essex County is a tombstone with the following inscription:
      Under thus Stone
      Lies interred the Re
      mains of Mr. Andrew
      Anderson, a native of
      Scotland who died * *
      of September 1762 * *
      the 55th year of his Age
      He was eminently endued
      with every Divine
      * * ance & Social Virtue,
      which gained him the Love
      And esteem of all those
      Who came to be
      Acquainted with him.

      Will of Andrew Anderson of Essex, Merchant, dated October 27, 1760, proved November 19, 1764.
      60 pounds to Mrs. Jane Dennistoune, relict of John Brown, Esq., late provost of Glasgow, to buy a ring or piece of plate;
      to brother George ten pounds;
      to brother Thomas' eldest son 200 pounds and 100 pounds to each of younger sons;
      to brother Alexander 100 pounds;
      to "the child sister Euphan left, if it arrives at age of 15 years," 100 pounds;
      100 pounds to "the child sister Agnes left, if it arrives at age of 15 years";
      to Phoebe, daughter of William Brooke, Senr.,
      80 pounds to buy a negro girl;
      to Mrs. Sarah Brooke, "all my negroes, horses, hogs, cattle, etc., thats on my quarter in Orange County," and after her decease to her grandson and my godson John Brooke;
      to nephew Andrew Crawford 50 pounds;
      a guinea each for rings to Mrs. Ritchie, relict of Mr. John Ritchie, late merchant in Glasgow and to each of her 4 sons and daughters and to Mrs. Sarah Brooke, her daughter Sarah, her son William and his wiife, and to Mrs. John Miller, Alexander and John Rose, brother John Anderson, and uncle Andrew Crawford and his wife.
      All remainder of estate to James Anderson, son of brother George. Brother John Anderson and nephews Andrew Crawford and Tames Anderson, executors.
