      THIS INDENTURE made this (blank) day of (blank) ano: 1687 and in the third yeare of the Reigne of our sovereigne Lord James the second by the grace of God of England &c., Between JOHN MILLS of the County of Rappa: in Virginia, Plantr., on the one part and REBECCA his Wife and THOS: NEW of the sd County on the other part Witnesseth that the sd JOHN MILLS and REBECCA his Wife for the sume of Three thousand five hundred pounds of good legal Tobacco and cask to him in hand paid have granted unto the sd THO: NEW his heires and assignes forever all their right and demand unto a certain peice or parcell of land conteyning One hundred and forty acers being on the South side of the Rappa: River binding upon a certaine Creeke called formerly by the name of TIGNORS CREEK on the one side for breadth and back into the woods for width bounding upon the land given to JAMES MILLS deced and upon the land of RICHARD NIGHTINGALE and upon the land of ROBT: MILLS the said One hundred and forty acers being part of a greater quantitie taken up and included in a Patent of 562 acres by JOHN MILLS the Elder, Father to the sd JOHN MILLS here above mentioned, and by him given and bequeathed in his Last Will and Testament unto the sd JOHN MILLS the Younger with all the rights and appertinances To have and to hold the sd land and premisses unto the sd THO: NEW his heires or assignes from him the sd JOHN MILLS and REBECCA his Wife and the sd JOHN MILLS for himselfe his heires for the consideration aforesd the sd parcell of land and all the premisses will warrant and defend unto him the sd THO: NEW And Further the sd JOHN MILLS do grant to the sd TIIO.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we WM. BENDREY &ELIZA: Wife to ye sd. WM. BENDREY, have sold ye within meconed Land & conveyance unto ye sd. ROBT. MILLS his heirs & assignes & do warrant ye same in as amplemanner as it was sold from ye within menconed JNO: MILLS & REBECKAH his Wife unto ye within named THOMAS NEW , & do oblige our selves in consideracon of Six thousand pounds of tobacco to be fully satisfied & to acknowledge ye same before ye Justices holding Court for ye County of Essex thereto be enrolled according to ye Statute in that case made & provided; In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & fixed our seales this 24th day of September 1698

MILLS in ye just quantity of Twelve thousand pounds of good sound merchantable sweet scented tobo: & Caste, to the which payment I bind myselfe my heirs firmly by these presents; In Witness where of I have set my hand &wale this 10th day of Janry: 1698
      The Condicon of this obligacon is such that whereas ye above bound WM. BENDREY did sell ROBT. MILLS a certaine tract of Land as by Assignmt., bearing date ye 24th day of Septmber 1698 on ye back side of a Deed of Sale & Instrumt. of Writeing, wherein ye sd. parcel! of Land was sold unto THO: NEW by JNO. MILLS, Brother to ye sd ROBERT MILLS, If therefore ye sd. WM. BENDREY shall save & defend unto ye sd. ROBT. MILLS ye aforesd. tract of Land from him his heirs & assignes & all p:sons through or under him lawfully laying claime to ye same, then this present obligacon to be void or else to remain in full force & virtue

      Deed, 11 Oct 1704. Robert Moss of Essex Co, planter, and Mary his wife, sell Francis Gouldman, Gent, for 6000 1b tobo, 140 acres on S side Rappa, Adjoins a creek formerly called Tignors Creek, the land given to James Mills decd, the land of Richard Nightingall, the land of Robt Mills. This 140 acres being part of 562 acres patented by John Mills the Elder, father to the aforesaid Mills, and by the sd John Mills given in his will to his son John. Mills, and by him ( John. Mills the son ) sold to Tho New decd dated in 1687 (?), and by the will of the sd Thomas New dated 16 Sept 1689 given to Frances New wife to sd Thos New, At a Court for Essex 10 Aug last past, recovered by Course of Law by the said Robert Moss "the first Cosen and heire apparent to the sd Frances".
