      TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come Sr. WILL. BERKELEY Knt. Governr. and Capt. Genll. of Virginia send greeting Whereas by instructions from the Kings most Excellent Majestie directed to me and the Councell of State his Majestie was graciously pleased to authorize me the said Governr and Council to Grant Pattents and to assign such portions of land to all Adventurers and Planters as have equally heretofore in the like cases either for Adventurers of money or Transportation of People into this Collony according to a Charter of Orders from the late Treasurer and Company and that the same portion of fifty acres of land be granted and assigned for every person transported hither since Midsummer 1625 and that the same course be continued to all Adventures and Planters untill it shall be otherwise be determined by his Majesties most (crossed out) Now know yee that I the sd Sr. WILL, BERKELEY Knt. Govr. doe with the consent of the Councell of State accordingly give and grant unto DAVID FAULKNER one hundred forty and two acres of land scituate in the County of Rappa purchased by him of JOHN BURKETT and by the said JOHN BURKETT of RICHARD WEST as doth appeare by the several! deeds recorded in Rappa County (crossed out) Court as likewise Two hundred acres of land adjoining to this former taken up by us the said BARTLETI (crossed out) BURKETT by Pattent yet in the Secretaries Office according to the ancient lawful! bounds thereof the said being granted to NICHOLAS BURKETT diceased and lately found to Escheat to his Majestic as by an Inquisition recorded in the Secretaries Office under the hand and seale of Majr JOHN WEIRE Escheater for the said County and a Jury Swore before him for that purpose dated the 4th of November 1668, may appeare and is now granted unto DAVID FAULKNER his heirs and assignes forever in as large and ample manner as is expressed in a Charter of Orders from the late Treasurer and Company bearing date the 18th of Novr. 1618 or by Consequence may be justly collected out of same or out of the Letters Pattents whereon they are granted to be held of our Sovereign Lord the King paying for every fifty acres of land hereby granted yearly at the feast of St. Michael the Archangle the Fee for Rent of one shilling wch payment is to be well and truely made yearely from yeare to yeare according to his Majesties Instructions of the 12th of September 1662 provided that if the said FAULKNER his heirs or assigns do not seate or plant upon the said land within three years next ensuing the date hereof then it shall be lawful! for any Adventurer or Planter to make choice and seate thereupon Given under my hand and Seale of the Collony this 11th of October 1670

      KNOW ALL MEN that I DAVID FAULKNER wth the consent of JUDITH my Wife doe in consideration of Five thousand pounds of Tobacco in hand to me paid doe hereby acknowledge to have sold from us and our heirs forever all our right and interest of in and to the within written Pattent and all Lands therein mentioned unto SAMUEL WOOD his heris and assignes forever with warrenty that neither I the said DAVID FAULKNER my heirs nor assigns shall not for the future lay any claim to any part or parcell thereto nd I do hereby oblige myself to acknowledge this as my act and deed together with the like acknowledgement of JUDITH my Wife and for hereof I hereunto set my hand and seale this 4 of November 1672

      THIS INDENTURE made the ninth day of February Ano Dom 1693 and in the fifth year of the Reigne of our Soveroigne Lord and Lady, William and Mary by the grace of God of England &c., Between NICHOLAS FAULKNER of the County of Essex of the one part and THOMAS WINSLOW of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the sd NICHOLAS FAULKNER for Nineteen hundred pounds of tobazcco and caske and Five shillings Sterling to him in hand by said THOMAS WINSLOW well and truly paid whereof the said NICHOLAS FAULKNER hath granted unto the sd THOMAS WINSLOW his heires & assignes for ever all that Plantation and land containing Fifty acres be the same more or less whereon DAVID FAULKNER, (Father to the sd NICHOLAS FAULKNER) late of the County of RAPPA: lived & whereof he dyed seized adjoyning to the land whereon JAMES MERRIOTT now liveth, & now in the tenure & Occupacon of ROGER PERRY as Marrying JUDITH, the Widdow & Relict of the said DAVID FAULKNER, and all houses, outhouses & buildings thereon standing and all orchards woods and trees growing & all wayes waters profits whatsoever to the said land belonging, & all the Estate rights of the said NICHOLAS FAULKNER to the same, all which said Plantacon & land was conveyed by the above named JAMES MERRIOTT to the sd DAVID FAULKNER as may appear by conveyance recorded amongst the Records of RAPPA: County bearing date the tenth day of July 1667 and descended to the said NICHOLAS FAULKNER as Son and Heire apparent of the said DAVID FAULKNER; To have and to hold the said Plantacon and land unto the said THOMAS WINSLOW his heires and assignes from the day of the date to the onely use of him ye said THOMAS WINSLOW, And the said NICHOLAS FAULKNER for himselfe his heires grant that he the said THOMAS WINSLOW his heires may at all times forever hereafter lawfully and quietly have all the sd Plantacon land & premisses without the lawfull trouble of the said NICHOLAS FAULKNER or any other persons or to claime any Estate right to the sd bargained premisses or any pte: thereof (the aboved JUDITH in right of her thirds & the yearly rents and service which shall henceforth grow due to be paid to the Chief Lord or Lords of the Fee of the premisses only Excepted) and that he the sd NICHOLAS FAULKNER shall at the next Court to be held for the sd County acknowledge these presents according to the Law and that he and all other persons claimeing any Estate in the premisses (except as before excepted) will at any time hereafter at the reasonable request cost & charges in the Law of the said THOMAS WINSLOW make every such further and other conveyances in the Law for the better and more absolute conveying of the before bargained premisses unto the said THOMAS WINSLOW his heires and assignes forever as by his or their Councill learned in the Law shall be devised or required.
