      TO ALL MEN to whom these presents shall come I JOSEPH CHISSELL of the County of Rappa Planter for Two thousand fouer hundred pounds of Tobacco and cask to me in hand paid by MATHEW KELLY of the same County Planter at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents doe sell unto the said MATHEW KELLY his heirs and assigns Two hundred acres of land being on the North side of the RAPPA RIVER in the County aforesaid between the Land of HARMON SKILDERMAN and the thousand acres of land that was surveyed for ROBERT SOWELL [Lovell] and PATRICK NORTON both Planters and beginning at the Land that was formerly ROBERT SOWELLs and PATRICK NORTON and runing three quarters of a mile upon the head line wch runs towards the land of HARMON SKILDERMAN and so into the woods wth that quantity of land as will make two hundred acres of land together wth all profitts and hereditaments whatsoever thereunto belonging To have and hold the said Two hundred acres of land to the only use and behoofe of the said MATHEW KELLY his heirs and assigns forevermore and the said JOSEPH CHISSELL for himself his heirs doth agree that said MATHEW KELLY his heirs and assigns shall lawfully at all times hereafter hold and enjoy the said premises without the deniall of the said JOSEPH CHISWELL or any other person whatsoever lawfully clayming the premises and MATHEW KELLY for himself his heirs and assigns doth agree to paie the quitrents yearly as soon as the said CHISSELL shall lay it out as Witness my hand and Seale this 11th day of Januarie 1672

FLEMING at TRAVERS up a branch by Mr. WILLIAM MOSS his Plantacon he bought of JOSEPH CHISSELL, ye TRAVERS is nigh NW, thence NW to a corner tree a Hickory, thence by a new line runing into ye sd SKELDERMANs Devident N:W: to ye place where it first began To have & to hold I ye sd HERMAN SKELDERMAN doe for my self my heires confirme unto ye sd PATRICK NORTON to him his heires ye abovesd. hundred & fifty acres of land wth all rights & priviledges as I ye sd HERMAN SKELDERMAN did enjoy by my Pattent from ye right Honble: Sr: WM.       THIS INDENTURE made this Sizth day of October in the years of our Lord God One thousand seven hundred and three Betweene JOHN BARKER of the County of ESSEX of the one part and THOMAS PATTY of the County of Richmond of the other part; Witnesseth that the said JOHN BARKER for and in consideration of the summe of Foure thousand pounds of tobo: by him allready received hath granted unto the said THOMAS PATTY his heires or assignes for ever all that parcell of Land scituate and being in the Parish of SITTENBURNE and County of Richmond upon the branches of RAPPA: CREEKE containeing One hundred" and fifty acres being part of a devident of Land formerly belonging to LAWRENCE BARKER late of Richmond County deced, containeing Five hundred and twenty acres and now in the tenure and occupation of the said JOHN BARKER, the said One hundred and fifty acres of Land being bounded as followeth (vizt.) Beginning at a marked white Oake standing in a forke of BARE BRANCH and extending thence North one hundred and fifty pole along the Line of HARMAN SKELDERMAN to a marked red Oake, thence West one hundred and seventeen pole to a marked red Oake along the line of WILLIAM LANE standing in the said line in a small valey, thence South seventy eight pole crossing BARE BRANCH to a marked white Oake, thence West fourty pole to a marked Pokickory saplin, thence South seventy two pole to a marked Pokickory standing on the side of a Hill near a branch, thence down ye said branch its severall courses and meanders to the first mentioned begining; To Have and To Hold the said one hundred and fifty acres of land with all woods and appurtenances to the same belonging to him the said THOMAS PATTY his heires and assignes forever, free and clear and sufficiently kept harmless of and from all other formr: gifts, sale wt:soever to the said THOMAS PATTY his heires subject nevertheless to the payment of all Quitrents taxes and impositions that shall from henceforth grow due and become payable out of the hereby granted and sold premisses or any part thereof, And the said JOHN BARKER for himselfe his heires shall att all times forever hereafter quietly and peacably hold and enjoy all the granted premisses without any trouble or interruption of him the said JOHN BARKER his heires or any other persons under him and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents, And the said JOHN BARKER doth further covenant that he will att any time att the reasonable request and att the proper costs and charges in the Law of him the said THOMAS PATTY make and acknowledge all such further acts and conveyances for the surer conveying the said Land as by the said THOMAS PATTY his heires or any of them shall be required. In Wittness whereof the said JOHN BARKER hath hereunto sett his hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written
