Research Notes from Bernice
According to great aunt Lottie, John McCollum (1754-1842), father of Elizabeth (1793-1847), had a wife Ann Grant and they were married in 1784. No clue as to where they were married. There is no death date for Ann so I am no help there. As I have said before, dates and places in her sketchy genealogy, are few and far between. Neither would I argue her being off a few years.
One thing that does throw me in what she has beside Elizabeth's name - "from SC". This does not fit with VA or PA so - - - -?? It could mean Elizabeth was born in SC or maybe it means they lived there for awhile before going to KY. Perhaps they went from PA or VA to SC and then to KY. I honestly do not know.
=== Research Notes from Mildred Ridgway
Elizabeth McCollum was either a twin of John McCollum, Jr. who was born 06 Jan 1793 or she was born a year or two earlier.
Since Kentucky became a state in 1792, I can understand the confusion. Before 1792 the area that is now KY was known as District of Kentucky, State of Virginia.
John McCollum, b Abt. 1762 was born in North Carolina in Caswell or Rockingham Co. He was son of John and Grandson of Daniel of Caswell Co., NC.
