Know all men by these presents that we JONATHAN HAILE, JAMES BOOTH, WILLIAM NORELL and JAMES BOUGHAN in the County of Essex are firmly bound unto WILLIAM WINSLOW & HENRY TANDY, Admr of ALEXANDER SOMERSET [sic Somervell], Surviving Admr. of HENRY BYROM deced the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds Currt, money for which payment we bind ourselves this 16th day of June 1724. The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounded Jonathan Haile, James Booth, Wm. Norell & James Boughan their heirs do well & truely pay unto JOHN BYRAM, PETER BYRAM, BRYANT BYRAM, ANNE BYRAM & MARY BYRAM, Orphans of HENRY BYRAM deced the sum of Seventy five pounds Currt money when they shall arrive to their several respective ages by equal proportion between them that then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force.

THIS INDENTURE made the first day of February in the eight year of the Reign of our most gracious Soveraigne Lord William the third by the grace of God of HENRY BYROME of PARR in the County of LANCR: and Kingdom of England, Gunsmith, and PETER BYROME, Brother & Servant of the sd HENRY of the one part & ALDERMAN TYRER of LIVERPOOLE in the said County of LANCR:, Merchant, of the other part; Witnesseth that ye sd. HENRY BYROME and PETER BYROME have put themselves covenant Servants to & with the said THO: TYRER to serve him and his assignes for & dureing the terme of Four yeares next after they shall be arrived in MARYLAND or Virginia and the sd THO: TYRER doth hereby agree to & with the sd. HENRY BYROME & PETER BYROME that he the said THOMAS TYRER will pay for their passages and provide them with sufficient meate drinke apparrell washing and lodging and also with all sort. of service and at the expiracon thereof the said working tooles to be theire owne use and as theire owne goods and shall allow them Fifty acres of Land and all other Benefits and advantages allowed by the said place where they shall arrive au according to the Custome of the Countrey: In Witness whereof the said THOMAS TYRER to these present Indenture

Deed of Gift. 10 Dec. 1702 Robert Mills of Southfarnham parish, Essex Co.; planter, and Mary his wife, give "for kind love and tender affection . . . unto our Dear and loveing Daughter Frances Byrom the now wife of Henry Byram of the aforesaid parish and County, Gun Smith" 100 acres, a plantation in So. Farnham par., formerly the-land of Thomas News and since purchased of William Bendry late of this County deceased. Adjoins old Plantation swamp, etc. This plantation is given to Frances Byram ( also appears as Byrom and Biram in the entry) and not to her husband.

John Mills the younger, planter, of South Farnham Par, Essex Co., sells to Henry Byrom, 'Gunn Smith', of same Par. and Co., 40 acres, bordering on the mouth of a Gut issueing out of Gilson's Creek a little below an Island in the Marsh by the mouth of a Great Swamp called the old plantation swamp, to Evans point, it being a point of land formerly sold by John Mills, grandfather to the sd John Mills, to John Evans deceased, from thence on the land which Peter Byrom and the afsd Henry Byrom now liveth on.

Par., for £10. 100 acres on So. side of Rappahonnook River, about 4 miles above the falls thereof in St. M. Par., adj. a branch of Has le run (Hazel Run), the land of Henry Reeves, which 100 acres is a part of a tract formerly granted to John Bowsey (evidently phonetic spelling) and since granted to Augustine Smith by patent dated 22 October 1712, for 1708 acres.

THIS INDENTURE made the thirty first day of August in the year of Our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and twenty four; Between JOHN BYRAM of the Parish of Southfarnham in the County of ESSEX, Planter, of one part and PHILEMON CAVENAUGH of the Parish of Saint George in the County of Spotsylvania, Planter, of the other part; Witnesseth that JOHN BRYAM in consideration of the sume of ten shillings of good and lawfull money of England to him in hand paid by PHILEMON CAVENAH the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath and by these prsents doth bargain and sell unto PHILEMON CAVENAUGH his heirs a certain parcell of land containing one hundred and fifty acres lying on the South side of RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER in Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania and bounded; Begining at two marked white Oaks standing by a Branch of the HAZELL RUN being the lower corner of HENRY REVES's land, thence South East by South one hundred and ninety poles to a white Oak, thence North East by East one hundred twenty and seven poles to a red Oak, thence North West by North one hundred and ninety poles to a red Oak, thence South West by West one hundred twenty and seven poles to the place it first began with all houses orchards profitts and appurtenances to the premises belonging; To have and to hold the parcell of land and premises hereby granted to PHILEMON CAVENAUGH and assigns from the day next before the date of these presents for and during the term of one whole year for thence next ensueing paying therefore the rent of one pepper corn at the Feast of Saint Michael the Arch Angel if the same be lawfully demanded to the intent that by vertue of these presents and of the Statute for transferring uses into possession PHILEMON CAVENAUGH may he in actual possession of the premises and thereby enabled to take a release of the inheritance thereof to him and his heirs; in Witness whereof the parties to these present Indentures have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first, above written

THIS INDENTURE made the first day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty four, Between JOHN BYRAM of the Parish of Southfarnham and County of ESSEX of one part, Planter, and PHILEMON CAVENAH of the Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania, Planter, of other part; Witnesseth that JOHN BYRAM in consideration of the sume of four thousand pounds of tobacco to him in hand paid by PHILEMON CAVENAUGH the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto PHILEMON CAVENAUGH [in his actual possession now being by vertue of one Indenture of Bargain and Sale to him thereof made for one whole year and of the Statute for transferring issues into possession] and to his heirs one certain parcell of land containing one hundred and fifty acres scituate on South side of RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER in Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania and bounded, Begining [the description of the bounds of the land is repreated as in the Lease above] which one hundred and fifty acres of land is part of a tract of land which was formerly granted to JOHN BOWEY and since his death has been found to escheat to her most sacred Majesty Queen Anne and is since granted to AUGUSTINE SMITH, Gent., by a Patent dated the 22nd day of October 1712 which Patent is for seventeen hundred and eighty acres whereof the said AUGUSTINE bargained and sold the aforesaid parcell of land scituate as aforesaid unto HENRY BYRAM by Deeds of Lease and Release bearing dates the sixth and seventh days of September in the year of Our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and fourteen whose Son and Heir to the aforesaid Inheritance the aforesaid JOHN is, To have and to hold the par- cell of land and premises to PHILEMON CAVENAUGH his heirs and JOHN BYRAM his heirs will warrant acquitt and forever defend by these presents free and clear of all incumbrances [the rents and services which henceforth from time to time for and in respect of the premises shall grow due and ought to be performed to our Sovereign Lord the King his heirs excepted and foreprized] In Witness whereof the party to these present Indenture have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
