      THIS INDENTURE made this 15th day of April in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty six Witnesseth that THOMAS WARING, BENJAMIN WINSLOW, WM. ROANE, WM. DAINGERFIELD, FRANCIS WARING & SAMUEL HIPKINS, Gent., Justices of the peace of the County of Essex do by these presents bind AUGUSTINE VAWTERS of the Parish of St. Anns, Son of BENJAMIN VAWTERS in the County of Essex deceased, an Orphan of the age of Seventeen years, as an Apprentice to ADAM LINSLEY of the County of CAROLINE, Mill Wright, with him to dwell and serve during the full time and term of four years to commence from the day of the date hereof during which term said AUGUSTINE the aforesaid ADAM shall faithfully serve, And ye said ADAM shall do his utmost endeavour to teach and instruct said AUGUSTINE the art mistery and trade of a Mill Wright and House Carpenter and also to find said AUGUSTINE during his continuance with him as an Apprentice sufficient cloathing meat drink washing &Lodging and for the true performance of all the covenants in this Indenture mentioned and comprized which on the part of the said ADAM are to be performed and kept by the said AUGUSTINE the said ADAM doth bind himself his heirs firmly by these presents in the penal sum of Twenty pounds Sterling money of Great Britain; In Witness whereof the said parties have set. their hands and seals the day & year above written

      At a Court held for Orange County on Thurs. the 24 Feby 1774 on the Petition of ADAM LINDSAY .. setting forth that he is desirous of building a water grist mill in the Riga Run and that he is owner of the land on one side - land on other side belongs to Estate of William Boutwell, deceased .. he prays an order for an acre to be laid off. Therefore it is ordered that the Sheriff summon a jury of twelve freeholders of the Vicirage to meet at acre of land .. who duly met and sworn before Magistrate or Sheriff diligently examined sd land .. Together with timbers and other conveniences thereon land on both sides sd run which may be affected .. value and damages .. Copy Test James Taylor, C.O.C.
      We the Subscribers .. sworn .. viewed land petitioned for by Adam Lindsay .. find to be worth one shilling and three pence and damages to fifteen shillings .. 17th March 1774.
