Daniel Brown , Culpeper. £19.3.6 (Dumfries Store), £11.10.6 (Fredericksburg Store), William Cunningham & Co. He died in Culpeper about the commencement of the war, entirely insolvent. This debt was due in 1768. Doubtless the creditor could have compelled payment before the courts were shut if it had been possible.

Claims of Heslop & Blair, report dated 30 Jan. 1801: [Page 50]
Daniel Brown, Culpeper. £14.17.9 by judgment in 1772. He died in Culpeper County at the commencement of the late war, totally insolvent. In the remarks of the creditors it is stated that there was an execution in 1772. Unfortunately, the execution book of Culpeper prior to 1773 was destroyed by the convention troops of Gen. Burgoyne as they passed through that county during
the war. If the execution could be seen, it is highly probable the return of the Sheriff upon it would prove that Daniel Brown had no effects at that period. The same fact may readily be inferred from the circumstance of the creditor not being able to recover his debt from 1772 until the occlusion of the courts in 1774 , although he had from his own showing a judgment and execution .
