      In the name of God Amen. I THOMAS BROWN of Parish of St. Mark in County of Culpeper being sick and weak in body but in understanding & memory as sound & perfect as usual do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following ( Viz.) After my funeral charges & just debts shall be paid the remainder of my Estate real & personal (except only as follows) I give and bequesth to my beloved daughter ELEANOR BROWN and her heirs forever; But if it should happen that my said Daughter should die before she hath lawful issue then I give and bequeath my said Estate to THOMAS BROWN Son of my Brother COLEMAN BROWN & ANN BROWN daughter of my Brother WILLIAM BROWN to be equally divided between them &. their heirs forever the following legacies excepted Viz. to my Niece ELIZABETH FARGASON the sum of Forty pounds to be paid her in case my said Daughter should die without issue & not otherwise And whereas by the Will of EDWARD STUBBLEFIELD decd he the said deceased left a negro woman named Kate to his Wife ELEANOR with whom I married after the decease of the said Edward, and did order in his said Will that his Daughter ANN STUBBLEFIELD should have half the issue of the said Kate I do therefore Order that my Executor shall pay the said Ann Stubblefield Forty pounds current money when she arrives to Lawful Age or marries in case the said Ann Stubblefield will renounce all benefit which she might claim under the said clause of her Fathers Will & not otherwise, I give to my Mother the sum of Forty shillings per annum during her natural life. Lastly I do hereby nominate & appoint my two Brothers DANIEL BROWN & WILLIAM BROWN Executors of this my last Will & Testament. In Testimony whereof this Sixteenth day of August Anno Dom 1758.

      This last Will and Testament of Thomas Brown deced was exhibited to the Court by Daniel Brown & William Brown the Executors therein named and was proved by the oaths of .. Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of the said Executors Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form they having sworn to the same & given bond & security as the Law directs.

      In the name of God Amen. I ROGER OXFORD of Saint Marks Parish in the County of Culpeper in the Colony of Virginia Planter being but weak of body but of perfect mind and memory .. do make & ordain this to be my last Will and Testament (that is to say) Principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a Decent Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter mentioned and as touching my worldly estate ., Imprimis I leave & bequeath unto my dear & Loving Wife MARGARET during her natural life the plantation & Lease of land whereon I now live, as also the Labour, benefit & profit of three Negroes namely Giles, Bett and Philisalsa I give unto my dear & loving Wife & to her disposal en equal fourth (or childs) part of all my personal estate of what kind soever ( my Still only excepted)
      Item I leave & bequeath unto my eldest daughter HANNAH MORGAN during her natural life two young Negroes named Judy & Lucy & after her decease I give the sd two negroes to her two children ( that is to say I give the said Negro girl named Judy with all her increase to MARGARET MORGAN as daughter of my Daughter Hannah aforesd to her & her heirs forever, as also the other Negro girl Lucy & her increase I give to my Grand daughter WINIFORD MORGAN daughter of my said daughter Hannah aforesd to her & her heirs forever also I give to my sd Daughter Hannah a fourth part of all my personal estate of what kind soever & her heirs forever (my still excepted).
      Item I give and bequeath unto my Son JOHN OXFORD & his heirs forever all my right & title to
      that tract of land lying on me Mountain Run in me Parish & County aforesaid with all the appur-
      tenancess thereunto belonging Together with three negroes ( Viz) after my decease I give to my son John Oxford aforesaid a negro girl named Nan with all her increase and after my wife Margarets decease I give to my son John aforesd a negro man named Giles, a negro woman named Phillis their future increase to him & his heirs forever, also a fourth part of all my personal estate of what kind soever (excepting my Still aforesd) to him & his heirs forever.
      Item I give and bequeath unto my son THOMAS OXFORD and his heirs forever all my right & title of the Lot or Lease of Land including the Plantation whereon I now live after my wiles decease, also I give to my son Thomas aforesd. after my wifes decease a negro Woman named Bett & all her increase, also immediately after my decease I give to my son Thomas Oxford Two negroes named Peter & Dinah them and their increase to him & his heirs together with my Still and fourth part of my personal Estate to him and his heirs forever,
      Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson THOMAS BROWN a son of my daughter MARY deceased a young negro girl named Nell and her increase to him and his heirs forever if he live to the age of twenty one years And my desire is that my son Thomas Oxford keep & bring up the negro girl till my Grandson Thomas Brown arrive to the age and if the said Thomas Brown should die before he arrives to the age aforesd that then the girl Nell & her Increase to my son Thomas Oxford. I give my Grandson JOHN BROWN son of my daughter Mary a young negroe boy named Robin after he arrives to the age of twenty one years to him & his heirs forever if the said John Brown should die before he arrives to the age aforesaid I give the sd Negro Boy Robin to my son John Oxford to him and his heirs forever and it is my desire that my son John Oxford keep and bring up the said negro until my Grandson arive to the age aforesd.
      I give & bequeath to my son Thomas Oxford a young negro girl which I formerly lent to my daughter Winnefred and now in the possession of JOHN SH (too faded) Junr, in Prince William County and further more it is my will & desire & I do hereby appoint my loving Wife Margaret & my lovings sons John Oxford and Thomas Oxford to be my whole & sole Executors & Executrix of this my last Will & Testament.. this tenth day of Mary in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty eight.

      18 Oct. 1765. Thomas Brown and Jean his wife to Robert Stewart, each of Culpeper County. For £60 current money. There was formerly a patent granted for 1200 acres to Robert Stewart and John Hobson in partnership, formerly Spotsylvania County, now Culpeper, in the Goard Vine fork on the Hazel River and the branches thereof. John Hobson by his last will and testament 9 Sept. 1741 bequeathed all his interest of his equal part of the tract to his cousin John Hobson of Charles Co., Md., who by a deed of gift made over all his right to Thos. Brown of Fairfax County. All that half part of the above mentioned tract, containing 600 acres.

      By virtue of the within Commission we did personally go to the said Jane and did examine her previly and apart from her said Husband Touching the acknowledgment of the said conveyance who declared she was willing the same should be recorded in our said County Court .. Ninth March 1772.
