      In the Name of God Amen August the second One thousand seven hundred sixty and one I JOSEPH ROGERS of Brumfield Parish in Culpeper County being very sick and weak of body but in sound and perfect sense of mind and memory „ And as touching such worldly estate .. Imprimis I bequeath my Soul to Almighty God that gave it me and my body to the earth to be buried ..
      Item I will and desire that my lands may be equally divided between my four sons ( Vizt) WILLIAM, JOSEPH, JOHN and BARNETT ROGERS,
      Item I give to my son William Rogers one negro man named Phill for and enduring the time and term of my wifes life.
      Item I give to my son Joseph Hale Rogers one negro man named Harry for and enduring the time and term of my wifes life.
      Item I lend to my Loving Wife LUCY ROGERS the use of my lands and the rest of my personal estate that has not been yet mentioned for and enduring her life.
      Item after the decease of my Wife Lucy I will and desire that my personal estate be equally divided between my nine children, Vizt; WILLIAM, FRANCES, ANN, JOSEPH, JOHN, SARAH, LUCY, BARNETT and BETTY ROGERS.
      Item I appoint and authorize my loving sons William and Joseph and JOHN CRITTENDON Executors of this my last will and Testament in Witness whereof . .

      This last Will and Testament of Joseph Rogers decd was exhibited to the Court by Executors therein named and was proved by the oath of witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Joseph Rogers and John Cr ittendon two of the said Executors came into Court & refused to take the burthen of Execution thereof and on the motion of the said Executor Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof he having sworn to the same and given Bond & security according to Law.

      THIS INDENTURE made this 25th day of April 1777 Between JOHN WILLIS and SARAH his Wife of the Parish of St. Thomas and County of ORANGE of one part and JOHN ROGERS of St. Marks Parish and County of Culpeper of other part Witnesseth that John Willis and Sarah his Wife for the sum Two hundred and fifty pounds current money to them paid do grant unto the said John Rogers his heirs all that Track of land in the Parish of St. Mark and County of Culpeper being a track of land wiled to the said John Willis by his Father JOHN WILLIS reference to sd Will recorded in Orange Court and the several Deeds of conveyances to wit from SPOTSWOOD to WAUGH and from WAUGH to Willis Spotswood to Willis recorded in the County Court of Culpeper will make the title more fully appear and it is bounded Begining at two white oaks Corner to JAMES WILLIS in SAMUEL REEDs line thence with his line South to a pine in a line of DANIEL WHITEs thence with his line thence North to a white oak in the Low grounds of Ceadar Run thence down the run to a Walnut Tree in the South side thereof Corner to James Willis thence leaving the said Run South to the begining containing two hundred and eighty five acres of land
