IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I JOSHUA BOUGHTON SENR. of South ffarnham Parish in Essex County being sick & weak but of perfect memory thanks be to God for it have thought fits to make this my last Will in manner and form following revoaking and makeing void all other wills by me heretofore made and first & principally I recommend my soul into the hands of my Creator hopeing for Salvation and as to my temporall estate after the due paying of my just debts legacies & ffuneral expellees I dispose thereof as followeth Imprs.
I give to my Son JOSHUA BOUGHTON that part of land which I purchased of the REVD. EMANUEL JONES being one half of the land which I am now possessed with to him and his issue lawfully begotten and in case he should dye without any such lawfull issue then my will is that the above sd land shall go to my Son THOMAS BOUGHTON to him and his issue lawfully begotten.
Item I give to my son JOHN BOUGHTON the other part of my land which I now live on to him and his
issue lawfully begotten and in case he should die without any such lawfull issue then my will is that the sd land shall go to my Son WILLIAM BOUGHTON to him and his issue lawfully begotten. Item I give to my son Joshua Boughton my negroes Sawny & Jack.
Item I give to my son John Boughton my other negroes Sampson, Phillis Cate & in case my two sons Joshua Boughton and John Boughton whom I have given my negroes to should die without lawfull issue then my will is that my Son Thomas Boughton shall have the negroes which I have given to my son Joshua Boughton and William Boughton shall have the negroes which I have given to my son John Boughton.
Item I give to my son William Boughton twenty five pounds currt, money when he shall come
to the age of twenty one years.
Item I give to my four daughters MARY, ANNE, ELIZABETH& HANNAH to each of them four cows & calves Item my Will is that all my household stuff be equally divided among six of my children mainly Joshua Boughton, John Boughton, Mary Boughton & Ann Boughton, Elizabeth Boughton & Hannah Boughton.
Item I give to my Daughter Mary Boughton my bay rideing horse.
Item my will is that all the rest of my stock both cattle hoggs horses & mares & sheep be equally divided between my two sons Joshua Boughton & John Boughton.
And Lastly I constitute & appoint my two sons Joshua Boughton & John Boughton to be whole & sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament for the true performance thereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this nineteenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and twenty & six

In Obedience to an Order of the worshipful Court of Essex We the Subscribers being first sworn by RICHARD TYLOR Gent have appraised and inventoried the Estate of JOSHUA BOUGTON as followeth .. items listed and valued but not totalled which inventory includes 7 3 year old hogs; 12 16 month old do; shoats, cows, steers, sheep.. one horse called Bacon, a black mare & colt; household furniture; dishware and utensils; a large and a small looking glass; one old book the whole duty of man; a large common prayer book, 1 little book the Christian Pattern, I book The Devout Christian Companion; 1 Psalter; I book the Family jewel; a parcel of old books; one drinking glass; clothing - jackets, suit, kersey coat; yarn stockings, a few tools and farm implements; a negro man named Sampson, a negro man named Tom; a negro man named Sawny; a negro man named jack: a negro woman named Phillis, a negro woman named Kate . . made by appraisers WILLIAM BEALE, JOHN VASS, THOMS BROOKE.
Conformable to an Order of the worshipful! Court of Essex dated the 21st Sept. 1731 we the appraisers of the above estate have set apart and given to the Widow relict of Joshua Boughton one ninth part amounting to 13 pounds 3/2 3/4 of the personal Estate and one third of the Negroes to the Satisfaction of all parties. Given under our hands this 15th October 1731 JOHN X BOUGHTON

5 Dec 1705. Henry Woodnut of So. Farnham par, planter, sells Emanuell Jones, Rect'r of Petso in Gloucester Co and Joshua Boughton of Petso parish in Gloucester Co, planter, for £100., 620 acres, part of 1062 acres granted sd Woodnut 20 Oct 1688. Land lies on both sides of the main road below Piscattaway Creek in S. F. par near Hudson's plantation, and adjs Whitehorne's and Craswell's corner "according to a Survey made by Mr Henry Beverly August 25th 1705" etc.

"Emanuel Jones of the parish of Petsworth in the County of Gloucester in the Colony of Virginia Clerk" and Joshua Boughton, planter, of So. Farnham Par., Essex Co. Whereas the said Emanuel and Joshua jointly purchased to them x x of one Henry Woodnot and Elizabeth his wife, 620 acres in So. Farn. Par., by Ind. dated 5 Dec. 1705, surveyed by Harry Beverley on 25 Aug. 1705. Joshua Boughton's part surveyed by Thomas Cooke 3 Sept. 1712. The boundry touching Croswells Corner and being near Hudson's plantation.

For £60 sterling. 300 acres in Southfarnham Parish, pert of a tract of 620 acres purchased by said Emanuel and Joshua of Henry Woodnut [ ] December 1705 and by them divided 1 December 1712.
