      To my eldest son Abraham Brown my old plantation through the old field bounding upon the line of Daniel Brown Junr. by the old mill path on the side of the dividing branch ... side of the middle branch near unto Mr. Thomas Edmondson's old field dividing the land of my son Henry Brown and Abraham Brown.
      Unto my son Henry Brown my now dwelling plantation and all of my land lying between the dividing branch and the middle branch.
      Unto my son Francis Brown all the remainder of my land lying on the upper side of the middle branch.
      Unto my daughter Sarah Boughan land beginning at the bridge and so up the branch to a spring in Thomas Wood's old field ... to a dividing corner tree of Francis Brown Senr. ... to the middle branch.

Farguson & more especially for the sum of Twenty Shill of good and lawful' money of England he the said Daniell doth hereby acknowledge hath granted unto Samuel! Farguson & Ann Farguson Wife to sd Samuel! all that Plantation or Parcel! of land formerly known by the name of FRANCIS BROWNs containing one hundred acres in County of Essex & in Parish of Sofarnham & on the Eastside of a branch called the Middle Branch it being the land &premises that Francis Brown bequeathed to his Wife during her life & then to Daniel Brown his son during his life & after his death to ANN BROWN Daughter to the said Daniel Brown & now Wife to the aforesaid Samuel!       THIS INDENTURE made the First day of April one thousand seven hundred and twenty three, Between LARKIN CHEW of the Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania, Gent. of one part and DANIEL BROWN of the Parish of Southfarnham in the County of ESSEX of the other part; Witnesseth that LARKIN CHEW in consideration of the sum of five shillings lawfull money to him in hand paid by DANIEL BROWN the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto DANIEL BROWN all that parcell of land containing by estimation eight hundred acres situate in the Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania and adjoyning the land of Colo. Anno Domini 1730 Between DANIEL BROWN of the parish of St. George in the County of Spotsylvania Planter of the one part and GRIFFEN FANTLEROY of the parish of St. Stephens in the County of Northumberland Gentleman of the other part Witnesseth that the said DANIEL BROWN for and in consideration of the sum of five pounds currant money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY at and before the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said DANIET. BROWN doth hereby acknowledge and thereof & of every part & parcel thereof doth acquit exonerate & discharge the said GRIFFIN FANTLEROY [in his actual possession now being by virtue of a Bargain and Sale to him made of the tract of land with appurtenances hereinafter menconed by Indenture bearing date ye day next before the day of the date of these presents for one year from the day next before ye day of the date of that Indenture and by force & virtue of the Statute for Transferring uses into possessions] and his heirs all that tract or parcel of land containing one thousand acres situate lying & being on the branches of the River Tay in the aforesaid Parish of Saint George and County of Spotsylvania and bounded as followeth [to wit] Beginning at a double black oak corner of Mr. BROCKS thence south seventy degrees west three hundred and forty pole to a small red oak and white oak thence north forty eight degrees west three hundred & fifty pole to a corner sapling in the fork of a branch of Mr. JOHN CHEWS thence north thirty degrees east two, hundred and sixty poles to d led oak in JOHN CHEWS line a corner of NATHANIEL SANDERS thence south eighty two degrees east two hundred and seventy five poles to a white oak near a branch in Mr_ BROCKS line thence along Mr. BROCKS line south thirty degrees east two hundred and sixty poles to a white oak in low ground thence south thirty four degrees east ninety poles to ye Beginning which sd tract of one thousand acres of land was granted to the said DANIEL BROWN by pattent under the hand of WILLIAM GOOCH Exq. Lieut Governour of this Colony and the seal of the said Colony bearing date the twenty eighth day of September one thousand seven hundred & twenty eight together with all houses edifices building gardens orchards woods underwoods ways water water courses priviledges commodities and appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion & reversions remainder & remainders rents issues and profits thereof & all the Estate right title interest benefit property claim & demand whatsoever of the sd DANIEL BROWN of in and to the same every or any part or parcel thereof also all patents deeds evidences & writings relating to or concerning the premises now in the custody or possession of ye sd DANIEL BROWN or which he can come by without suit to have and to hold the said tract of one thousand acres of land hereby granted bargained sold released & continued and every part & parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs & assigns to and for the only proper use and behoof of the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs & assigns for ever and to or for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever and the said DANIEL BROWN and his heirs the before granted tract of one thousand acres of land with the appurtenances & every part and parcel thereof unto ye said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs & assigns against him the said DANIEL BROWN his heirs & assigns and against all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall Sr will warrant and forever defend by these presents and the said DANIEL BROWN for himself his heirs Exors. & Admrs. doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs & assigns by these presents in manner and form following [that is to say] that he the said DANIEL BROWN now at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents [for and notwithstanding any act matter or thing by him done to the contrary] is and standeth solely lawfully rightfully & absolutely seized of and in all & singular the premises aforesaid with the appurtenances of a pure perfect absolute and indefeazable Estate of Inheritance in fee simple and that [for & notwithstanding any such act matter or thing as aforesaid] he the said DANIEL BROWN now hath good right full power and lawfull authority and title to alien and convey the same unto the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs and assigns shall & lawfully may from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peaceably & quietly have hold use occupy possess & enjoy all and singular the tract of land & premises with the appurtenances herein above menlionod and intended to be hereby granted and conveyed without any lawful! Let Suit Irouble Interruption or Eviction of the said DANIEL BROWN his heirs nr assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever and that free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged or upon reasonable request well & sufficiently saved kept harmless and indemnified of and from all manner and former & other gifts grant bargain sales leases mortgages jointures dowers titles and dowers entails and of and from all other Estates titles Troubles Charges and Incumbrances whatsoever and further that he the said DANIEL BROWN or his heirs & all other person & persons now having or which shall or may at time or times hereafter have or claim any Estate right title charge of interest of in or to the premises or any part thereof shall & will at any time or times hereafter at and upon the reasonable request and proper costs & charges in the law of the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs or assigns make do execute and acknowledge all and every such further and other lawful! & reasonable act & acts thing & things deeds conveyances and assurances in the law whatsoever for the further better more perfect and absolute assuring and conveying of the before granted land and premises every or any part or parcel thereof unto ye sd GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs Sr assigns forever as by the said GRIFFEN FANTLEROY his heirs & assigns or his or their Council Learned in the Law shall be reasonably advised or devised & required also that ELIZABETH the wife of the said DANIEL BROWN shall at any time when thereunto required personally relinquished in the County Court held for the sd County of Spotsylvania all her right & title of Dower or thirds at the common law in and to ye land by this Deed conveyed.
