1722-1730 Essex County, Virginia Wills, Bonds & Inventories, No. 4; [John Frederick Dorman]; Page 144-45. Will of Walter Grayham of Southfarnham Parish in the County of Essex, being sick and weak in body, dated 1 July 1724.
My whole estate real and personall be equally devided between my beloved wife Mary and my two children John and Elizabeth, yet my wife keep my whole estate in her hands towards the bringing up and maintaining my children during her widowhood and after also if good and sufficient security be given. She may keep the same untill my said son John arrives to the age of one and twenty years and my daughter Elizabeth to the age of eighteen years or day of marriage.
My beloved wife Mary and Robert Moody executors.

Pursuant to an order of Essex County Court bearing date the 19th day of Decemher 1732 we the Subscribers being first sworn have divided the Estate of WALTER GRAYHAM decd & have delivered the moyety to JOHN MEGGS Guardian to JOHN GRAYHAM one of the Orphans in the following puthikulars (Vizt) .. one negro man named Dick; 12..18..3 1/4 in cash; 2501b Tobacco; to which we find to be the halfe of the Estate of Walter Grayham decd; one negro girle named Sary aged aboute three years old; one negro girle named Moll aboute three months old, of the increase of the sd Estate which sd increase is an equal part delivered to the above said John Meggs for the use of the above sd Orphan from out of the hands of JOHN PAGE Executor of THOS. BRYANT
