      THIS INDENTURE made the Sixteenth day of Novembr. in year 1722 Between RICHARD BALLARD of County of Essex of one part & PATRICK KERNAL of sd County Witnesseth that said Richard Ballard for sum of (fifteen hundred and ffifty pounds of Tobacco & Cask paid doth hereby grant unto said Patrick Kernal his heirs forever a certain parcel of land on the North side of the Main Run of Occupacun Creek in the sd County of Essex containing 25 acres which said land is the moiety & half part of the land which EDWARD MARTIN late of the County died seiz'd of, who was (father of JOAN BALLARD Wife of Richard Ballard party to these presents

      NOVEMBER ye Seventh day 1722 Then peaceable possession of the land was taken by Patrick Kernal the same being deliver'd to him by Richd Ballard and Joan his Wife According to the tenour of the within written Deed in presence of Robt. Parker.

      THIS INDENTURE made this Fourteenth day of March in year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred Forty and seven Between MOSES CARNALL of County of CAROLINE in Colony of Virginia of one part and CHRISTOPHER BARBEE of County of Essex of other part; Witnesseth that MOSES CARNALL in consideration of Twenty and five pounds current money of Virginia by said CHRISTOPHER BARBEE to MOSES CARNALL in hand paid, by these presents coth bargain sell and confirm unto CHRISTOPHER BARBEE his his heirs certain tract of land, it being the Land MOSES CARNALLs Father PATRICK CARNALL, bought of JOHN RIDGSDALE, WILLIAM VAWER & RICHARD BALLARD, and afterwards gave it to his said Son, MOSES CARNALL, the land lying in County of Essex on North side of OCCUPATION SWAMP, bounded, Beginning at a red Oake corner to this land and also corner to the land which was formerly CALEB ELLITTs, thence tuning West Northwest binding on Land of SIMON GOLDINs, one hundred fifty and pole pole to a marked Ash standing in the line of CONALYs, thence South sixty degrs. West down the Branch which parts this land & the land of BEAZLEY fifty and four pole to a Ash standing near the Run of the aforesaid Branch, thence South seventy & seven degrees East up a small Branch & into ye old field sixty & four pole to a Poplar standing in a old field near the Road that crosses OCCUPATION SWAMP, thence South Twenty and five degrees East twenty & one pole to a Hiccory, corner tree of RICHARD HOPSON, thence South forty degrees West flinty and eight pole to a Elm & Maple standing close on the main Run side, thence down said Run of OCCUPATION SWAMP binding thereon its several courses to a small Ash standing on the Run side, being corner to this land & the land of aforesaid ELLITTs, thence with ELLITTs line North two degrees West one hundred and forty pole to the first mentioned beginning red Oak, containing the just quantity of One hundred thirty & three acres of land, Together withall profits commodities and appurtenances belonging; To have and to hold the One hundred & thirty three acres of land unto CHRISTOPHER BARBEE his heirs; And MOSES CARNALL for himself his heirs the land withaLl its appurtenances unto CHRISTOPHER BARBEE his heirs against all persons will warrant and forever defend by these presents.       At a Court held for Essex County at Tappahannock on the 15th day of May Anno Dom 1747 MOSES CARNAL and SUSANNAH his Wife (the said SUSANNAH being first privately examined by JOHN CORBIN Gent.) acknowledged this Deed of Feoffment Indented together with the Livery of Seizen and Receipt thereon endorsed to CHRISTOPHER BARBEE to be their act and deed (and the said MOSES CARNAL!. excepted Thirty square feet for a Burial Place out of the said Tract of Land and then on the motion of said CHRISTOPHER BARBEE the said Deed was admitted to Record and is truly recorded
