1735-1743 Orange County, Virginia Will Book 1: [John Frederick Dorman]:
Pages 297-98. Will of John Griffin of St. Thomas's Parish in the County of Orange in Virga. being very sick and weak in body, dated 2 Dec. 1743.
I impower my executors to sell all my lands lying near Terry's Run in the aforesaid county for the best price that can be had in money and the said money to be equally divided amongst my five youngest sons (to wit) John, Richard, James, Anthony and Joseph, each to receive his part when he arrives to the age of twenty one years.
Unto my loving wife Margaret Griffin all the rest of my estate during her natural life and at her decease to be equally divided amongst all my children (viz) David, William, Mary, Katherin, Sarah, John, Richard, James, Anthony, Margaret and Joseph.
My son-in-law William Jones and my loving wife executors.

I give unto my nephew, William Scott, the son of my brother, George Scott, deceased .. I have heretofore delivered to William Griffin Junr., the son of William Griffin and Barbara, his wife .. (also) .. all my books except the Prayer Book, given to my nephew, William Scott .. I lend unto my beloved wife, Mary Scott .. my brothers, Thomas and John Scott, and my sister, Patience Morton, the wife of Richard Morton .. appoint my wife, Mary Scott, and Robt. Miller, executors .. this 18th day of April 1786.
