  https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/shelton/7205/ Mildred Campbell Whitaker and others place a William Shelton married Hannah Armistead on the line instead of John, d. 1725, and in their version William and Hannah are the parents of the John who married Eleanor Parks. This William’s surname was "Sheldon", not "Shelton"; and his will is on file in York County, VA, and shows that he had no children, leaving his estate to a nephew.
