      June 1764 - Andrew Buchanan vs. Absolum Thorn. Debt. 2/5/0 sterling. Agreed. [docket item only]

      Mar. 1765 - Andrew Buchanan vs. Absolum Thorn, of Charles Co., planter. In June 1764 Absolum Thorn and Benjamin Thorn signed a note (signtures not marks) to Andrew Buchanan in which they agreed to pay him 23 shillings and 7 pence sterling and 16/17/4 currency by December next, with legal interest, and if they did not do so, that they would pay him the penal sum of 47 shillings and 2 pence sterling and 33/14/8 currency. Not having been paid, Buchanan brought suit against Absolum (but not Benjamon) for the penal sum. The case came on to be heard at the Mar. 1765 Court. Adbsolum admitted that he owed Buchanan the penal sum and the Court found for Burchanan in those amounts, plus 278 lbs. of tobacco for his costs and charges.

      May 13, 1766 - James Swann and Absalom Thorn confess judgment to Samuel Love for the sum of 300 lbs. of crop tobacco debt and costs of 0/2/6 currency which sums were recovered by Love against Swann on May 12, 1766, said sums to be levied against them in case Swann shall not pay Love said sums, with additional costs thereon, by Feb. 10 next.

      Nov. 1771 - The Grand Jury presents both Robert Brent and Ignatius Simms for not keeping the road in good repair by information of Michael Dent and Absolum Thorn.

      Mar. 1772 - John & James Jamieson, merchants in Glasgow vs. Absalom Thorn, of Charles Co., planter. On Dec. 2, 1767, Absalom signed (signature not mark) a note to John and James Jamieson in the amount of 55 pounds current money and 520 lbs. crop tobacco for dealings with them at their store at Newport, payable, with interest, on July 1 next. Not having been paid, the Jamiesons brought suit on the note in 1771. Peregrine Thorn, of Charles Co., planter, appears as pledge and security for Absolam. The case came on to be heard at the Mar. 1772 Court. Absolum admitted that he owed the sums sued for, and the Court ordered judgment for the Jamiesons in those amounts, plus 359 lbs. of tobacco for detaining the debt.

      Mar. 1774 - Absalom, Peregrine, William and Barton Thorn, among others, residents of Charles Co., petition the Court requesting relief from a road that has been stopped up by neighbors as it ran through their plantations, causing the petitioners to have to go 4 or 5 miles out of their way. The Court rejects the petition.

Thorn; William Thorn; Benjamin Davis and Sarah, his wife; Samuel Turner and Elizabeth, his wife; and Catherine Moran of Charles Co. to Robert Davis of Charles County for $448 the land where Absalom Thorn died seized of and where his dwelling house stood called "Byase Den," 96 acres. Later it's spelled "Byrse Den," but the land was "Burches Den." Witnesses: Theodore Mudd, John J. Estep. Mar. 20, 1817: Dorcas Thorn, wife of Benjamin Thorn waived her dower.
