  The Virginia Genealogist Volume 28, 1984, Page 289 Footnote 62: "Benoni is one of the 4th generation. His only Halley ties seem to be with James of Fairfax. They witnessed deeds together, went to court and were chain carriers for the same survey. Both lived in Fairfax County . My guess is that Benoni is a son of William Hawley, but there is no proof of this."
