Luke Davis' Will.
I, Luke Davis of CC, am sick and weak of body, but of perfect mind & memory. Firstly, I want my just debts paid.
To my wife Susanna Davis - 1 bay horse called Merryboy, and 2 beds and covering, 2 pewter dishes, and 1 pewter basin, & 6 pewter plates, 4 of my best hogs, 1 sow & pigs, 1 cow & calf, 4 ewes, 16 barrels of corn, 1 small chest, & 1 looking glass. Also all my plantation utensils, half my crop of cotton, 1 small iron pot, and all my earthenware.
To my daughter Catharine Anderson - 1 Negro girl named Sarah, for her own use during her natural life, and after her death, sd Sarah & her increase shall be equally divided among the children of my daughter Catharine Anderson, viz, Anne, Richard, William, & Elizabeth.
To my granddaughter Anne Burroughs - 1 cow and calf.
To my 5 daughters, viz, Mary, Elizabeth, Cloe, Dorothy, & Catharine and my son Barton - the rest of my estate to be equally divided between them.
Executrix: my wife Susanna Davis. executor: my son-in-law William Anderson.

May 9, 1755 from Luke Davis of CC, planter, to George Maxwell of CC, merchant, for 71 £18 shillings & 6 pence, part of Birdshead, being in CC, whereupon sd Luke Davis now dwells, and which was willed to sd Luke Davis by the decd Edward Davis, his father, containing about 100 acres. Signed - Luke (+ his mark) Davis. Wit - Allen Davies, Jas Nevison. Anne Davis, the wife of the within Luke Davis, relinquished her right of dower to the lands within mentioned. Recorded Jun 19, 1755.

On May 14, 1760, Luke Davis brought before me a small, dark colored mare, and made oath that sd mare had been trespassing upon his plantation for more than 6 months past, and that the owner to him is not known. Apr 7, 1791 from Barton Tabbs and Helen, of St. Mary's County (which sd Helen is one of the daughters and co-heirs of George Maxwell, late of CC, dead) to John Campbell of CC, for 20 £, one seventh part of a tract of land in CC called Woods Wilderness, late the property of the afd George Maxwell decd, and also one sevcnth part of a tract of land (being part of a tract of land called Birds Head, situated in CC), containing about 100 acres, formerly the property and estate of Luke Davis of CC decd, and by him conveyed to the afd George Maxwell by CC deed dated May 9, 1755.
