      THIS INDENTURE made the first day of December in year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty Between WILLIAM JOHNSTON of County of Culpeper and LUCY his Wife of one part and JAMES GORDON JUNR. of County of ORANGE of other part Witnesseth that WILLIAM JOHNSTON and LUCY his Wife for sum of Thirty thousand pounds weight of Crop Tobacco in hand paid by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JAMES GORDON JUNR. his heirs and assigns forever all that tract of land lying in County of Culpeper containing by Estimation Two hundred acres bounded Begining at a large Pine Stump Corner and runing thence South twenty degrees and four East One hundred & twenty poles to three small Birches standing at the mouth of RUMSAYS BRANCH on North side of the RIVER RAPPIDAN, thence up said RIVER by the several courses thereof South West sixty poles, then South twenty four degrees West forty eight poles, then South West forty two poles, then West thirty four poles, then North fifty one degrees West twenty poles to a large Dead white Oak and young Sycamore on the RIVER bank at the RACCOON FORD, thence North thirteen degrees East sixty four poles to a Locust by the ROAD side thence North twenty nine degrees West One hundred and fifty six poles to two white Oaks and a young Ash, thence North twenty degrees East one hundred and four poles to two Pines and one white Oak corner thence South fifty five degrees East one hundred & forty six poles to the be-gining Togather with all houses gardens fences and advantages whatsoever to said land belonging To have and to hold said Two hundred acres of land with the appurtenances unto JAMES GORDON JUNR. his heirs & assigns forever and WILLIAM JOHNSTON and LUCY his Wife shall forever defend the land hereby granted against the claim of every person -whatsoever In Witness whereof the said WILLIAM JOHNSTON and LUCY his Wife have hereunto set their hands and Seals this day and year above written
