      THIS INDENTURE made the 12th day of March in year of our Lord one thouand seven hundred & Ninety Between FRANCIS MAJOR of County of Culpeper of one part and JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER of County aforesaid of other part; Witnesseth that Whereas an unhappy difference has happened between FRANCIS MAJOR & MARGARET his Wife mostly owing to the Inattention of business & some inconsistances of the conduct of said FRANCIS in so much that the said MARGARET was apprehensive of a total waste of their Estate & living to quiet her mind & for the prevention of such waste & to secure the said Estate for the benefit & advantage of said MARGARET & her Children begotten by said FRANCIS, said FRANCIS MAJOR doth covenant bargain & make over unto JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER in Trust for the sale benefit & advantage of his said Wife & Children all his Estate both real & personal (Vizt.) all that tract of land lying in County of Culpeper on both sides WHITE OAK RUN containing Four hundred & twenty acres, one other tract adjoining the aforesaid tract containing by estimation One hundred & fifty acres, one of the aforesaid tracts conveyed to said FRANCIS & MARGARET his Wife by said THOMAS PORTER, the other conveyed unto said FRANCIS by NICHOLAS BROYLE, also five Negroes (Vztt.) Scipio, Loudon, Toney, Hanah & Lucey, and their increase, also all his stocks of horses cattle & hoggs, his three feather beds & furniture and all his household & kitchen furniture which said two tracts of land, five Negros his stock & household & kitchen furniture said FRANCIS MAJOR doth bargain and make over unto JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER in Trust, they paying all his just Debts already contracted & the residue of the said Estate to be applied to the sale benefit & advantage of the said MARGARET and her Children begotten by the said FRANCIS with the promise that said FRANCIS shall have a reasonbie maintenance out of the property of the said Estate; And FRANCIS MAJOR doth by these presents give & grant unto JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER full power & lawful authority to see! or otherways dispose of the aforesaid two tracts of land and convey the same unto the purchaser or purchasers thereof and their conveyance shall be as good & effectual in passing the fee simple Estate of said Land as if done by said FRANCIS MAJOR himself & that the money arising from the sale of the said two tracts of land to be laid out in buying other lands for the sole benefit of said MARGARET & her Children begotten by said FRANCIS, that is to say, the said MARGARET with the said Children during her natural life & after her decease to be equally divided between the aforesaid Children & their heirs; In Witness whereof the said FRANCIS MAJOR doth place his hand & seal the day & year above written

      This Indented Deed of Trust from FRANCIS MAJOR to JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER was partly proved by the Oaths of MICHAEL CARPENTER & MICHAEL MILLER two of the witnesses thereto & ordered to be Certified; And at a Court held for said County September the 20th 1790, this said Deed of Trust was fully proved by the Oath of THOMAS BOHANNON

      WHEREAS FRANCIS MAJOR to quiet the minds of MARGARET his Wife & THOMAS PORTER her Father, hath made over all his Estate both real & personal in Trust after his just debts are paid unto JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER for the benefit & advantage of his Wife & Children with this proviso, that said FRANCIS shall have a reasonable maintainance out of the profits of said Estate and to have his Wife restored to him again and to continue with him so long as he shall treat her in a becoming & Christian like manner, which restoration continuance & maintainance the said JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER doth pledge & pond their Honour shall be done & do by these presents bind themselves their heirs &c. in the penalty of One thousand pounds to be paid unto FRANCIS MAJOR his heirs &c. for their true & faithful performance of the Trust reposed in them; In Witness whereof the said JOHN MAJOR & THOMAS PORTER bath hereunto placed their hands & seals this 12th day of March 1790
