      KNOWE ALL MEN by these pr:sents that I RICHARD ILIFFE give for a valuable consideration have sold unto JOSIAS DRAPER his heires or assignes a certaine parcel]. of Land lying on the Branch of the South ( ) of a certain tract of land granted to ( ) this Fowre of February ( ) begininge at a inked; Ash standing ( ) runninge Westerly to the ( ) trees, Southerly to a corner ) Coll. LEE ( ) path, & Easterly to a marked Oake upon the head of a Branch of COROTOMAN to a mkd: red Oake at the head of ( ) SOUTHERNE SWAMPE as for runinge alonge the Swampe Northerly to the Branch where it first began; the abovesd: land the said JOSIAS to have & to hold & to injoy wth: all its priviledges as I have in my sd.       Whereas JAMES POPE & JAMES HILL have taken up a parcel of Land being seaven hundred & Ninety acres Pattented ye 28th day of Aprill in ye year. of 139 our Lord 1668, bounding upon ye land lately belonging to RICK ILLIF [Ayliffe] now in possession of CHARLES HUTCHINS & JOSIAS DRAPER, in ye County of Northumberld, on ye South side of GREAT WICKOCOMICOE RIVER, now the Land being divided betwixt the two parties abovemenconed; the bounds as followeth; Beginning at a marked line tree now belonging to JOSIAS DRAPER neare the MATCHOTACK PATH to a corner marked Oake at ye head of a Branch and from thence North Northeast downs ye sd: Branch to a former line of ye sd: POPEs, it is agreed betwixt both parties yt: JAMES POPE shall have ye part on ye South side of ye sd: MATCHOTACK PATH & JAMES HILL shall have on ye North side of ye sd: PATH, according to ye bounds above menconed; And it is agreed the said MATCHOTACK PATH shall be ye absolute Division betwixt the two p:ties above menconed, & their heires for ever; And further wee ye sd: JAMES POPE and JAMES HILL doe interchangeably oblige our selves in Twenty thousand pounds of Tobaccoe a peece and our heires & assignes without interrupcon of us the sd: POPE & HILL, to each other or our heires or assignes for ever; In Wittness whereof, wee ye sd: POPE & HILL doe interchangeably sett our hands & seales this 28th day of June 1669

Beginning on ye South side of Coll, LEES (or MACHOHOTICK) PATH on a lyne of marked trees formerly RICH. ALIFFEs now ye marked bounds of ye land of ye sd. JOSIAS DRAPER whereon at pr:sent hee lives: and from ye sd. PATH following ye marked trees South to ye Corner tree of ye sd, line, thence West on a line of marked trees 320 poles to a corner marked white Oake standing neere a Branch wch: discharges it selfe into ye Westermost Maine Branch of COROTOMAN RIVER, & from ye aforesd. white Oake to ye Branch, then following ye water course of ye sd. Branch to another marked wt: Oake standing in or nigh ye sd. Branch, thence East North Easterly up a small Branch (a diminutive of ye aforesayd Branch) & from ye head thereof on a direct line to ye place where this tract first began; wch: sd, parsell of land is part of a Pattent of Seaven hundred & ninety acres of land formerly taken up & appropriated by him, ye sd, JAM. & JAMES HILL. and which (as before is said) I doe firmely sell unto ye aforesd. JOSIAS DRAPER & to his heires for ever: as amply as they are granted to mee by ye recited Pattent, In Wittness of all ye premisses, I have hereunto sett my hand & affixed my scale this 14th day of Septr' and in ye yeare of Xts.
