- === Research note from Philip Alfeld
James Perry was the son of Pierce and Mary (?) Perry. Pierce Perry died in Orange County, VA about 1785, and his estate was probated much later. James was likely born in Spotsylvania County as Pierce is a resident in that county in the 1760s. James Perry died without a will in Orange County in 1814. His estate was subject to probate. I believe he was a deacon in an Orange County Baptist church. After his death Nancy “Ann” Perry joined several brothers in moving to Christian County, KY. From there she moved with two sons and a daughter and their families to Greene County, IL in 1836.
