Page 72: Thomas Talbott: born 19 August 1783 in Maryland. "Having a love for the sea, he ran away from home and took passage on his Uncle Daniel’s vessel. His parents being cognizant of his act told his uncle to let him go but make it as hard as possible, to satisfy him with the sea. He had a severe spell of yellow fever; was glad enough to get back to Maryland; and concluded the land was good enough for him.” Thomas moved from Virginia, to Kentucky, to Indiana, and finally to Missouri. He died on 10 June 1853.
