      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen, the third day of September in ye year of our Lord god 1748. I JOHN BAKER in County of Westmorld. being very sick in body but of perfect mind & memory, thanks be given to God therefore, calling unto mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is apointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testamt., that is to say, principally & first of all I give and recomend my Soul into the hands of God that gave itt and for my body I recomend itt to the Earth to be buryed in a Christian like & decent manner at the discretion of my Exors, nothing doubting butt at General Resurrection I shall receive ye same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewth:
      it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give devise & dispose of the same in the following manner & form;
      Imprimis. I give and bequeath to WM. BAKER, my Eldest Son, the Plantation he now lives upon & my Negro Fellow called Jack, and one Negro girl named Lett & three of the best Leather Chairs & one small oval Table.
      Item. I give unto my Son, JOHN BAKER, ye Plantation I now live upon & a Negro Fellow named Tom, & a Negro girl named Magg & a large oval Table & the remainder of the Leather Chairs and one feather bed and furniture and a Still yt: is now upon afsd. Planation
      Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter, ANNE BAKER, one Negro girl named Kiz & a feather bed & furniture.
      Item. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter. FRANCES BAKER, one Negro girl named Patt;
      Item. I give my Daugher, MARY BAKER, twenty shillings Sterling money;
      Item. I give unto my well beloved Wife, SARAH BAKER, all my Estate during her life both real & personal, And all the rest of my Estate that is not yet mentioned after my Wife's death to be divided among all my Children turn over
      item. I give & bequeath unto my Grandson, PRESLEY BAKER, one feather bed Signed Seal'd Publish'd Pronounc'd and Delcared by the sd. as his Last Will & Testament in ye presents of us the Subscribers, vizt.

      This Last Will and Testamt. of JOHN BAKER, deced., was presented into Court by SARAH BAKER, his Relict, & JOHN BAKER, two of the Exors. in the sd. Will named who made Oath thereto & being prov'd by the Oaths of the witnesses thereto is admitted to Record; And upon moron of the Exors. & their performg. what is usual in such cases, Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form

      Smith & Wife to Yeatman Indenture
      This indenture made 26th day of November 1771 between Peter Smith, Jr., and Sarah Smith his wife of Cople Parish and County of Westmoreland of the one part and John Yeatman of the same Parish in County of the other part. Whereas John Baker of the parish of Cople in County of Westmoreland by his last will and testament bearing date the third day of September 1748 device to his son William Baker a tract of land lying on one of the branches of Nominy containing by estimation 50 acres and bounded by the lands of Dunkin and Remy (now Rochester), White, and the said John Yeatman and Porter, and the said William Baker died without a will and left only two daughters, Sarah Baker and Susanna Baker who are coheirs and married with the said Peter Smith, Jr., and the said John Yeatman parties to these presents who have made no division of the same. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Peter Smith, Jr., and Sarah Smith his wife in consideration of 15 pounds current money of Virginia have sold unto John Yeatman all other part of the above mentioned tract of land being 25 acres which is one half of the said tract of 50 acres. In witness whereof the parties to these presents have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day month and year first above written.

      At a Court held for Westmoreland County the 26th day of November 1771 this indenture and receipt endorsed were acknowledged by Peter Smith, Jr., and Sarah Smith his wife parties thereto (she being first privily examined as the law directs) and ordered to be recorded. Teste
