John Lanham was transported from London England 3-1678 by Col. Benjamin Rozer in the ship Dover of London , Capt. John Harris ? Commander.
In 1682 he was listed as a debtor in the inventory of John Watkins of Anne Arundel Co.
He was in Charles Co. by 1686 when he registered a cattle mark. On 10-3-1694 he and Wm. Hutchinson surveyed Oxmontown in Charles, later to be Prince Geo. Co..
John "Lannum" was in Prince George's County by 10 April 1696 when he "made his mark"as a witness to a deed, indicating that he could not write. Nevertheless, his neighbors must have felt some confidence in his innate common sense and integrity. John "Lennam", administrator, filed the inventory of Michael Kersey of Prince George's County on 15 May 1699. On 14 September 1702 John Lanham and John Watkins appraised the estate of William Coghill. On 23 September 1703 Lanham and Thomas Gatton appraised the inventory of John Watkins. On 9 February 1704 John "Lenham" again made his mark as a witness to a resurvey.
On 30 May 1705 John "Lannin" of Prince George's County patented 200 acres called Lannin's Addition.
On 31 August 1713 John Lanham, Sr., made a deed of gift of one-half tract Addition to his son Richard. On 22 September 1713 he gave the other half of Lanham's Addition to his son John. Dorothy Lanham made her mark on both dees.
On 16 November 1717 John Lanham, Sr., conveyed to his son John, Jr., one-half of Lanham's Addition.
John Lanham was one of the appraisers of the estate of Joseph Janes(Jones?) of Prince George's County on 21 March 1720.(It is uncertain if this John Lanham was the original settler, or if it was his son, John, Jr.
John Lannam of Prince George's County patented 123 acres called Lannams Folly on 20 May 1725.
On 22 August 1727 John Virgin and wife Elizabeth conveyed to John Lanham 108 acres, part of a tract called Fox Hole. On or before 3 May 1729 John Lanham, planter, with consent of his wife Dorothy(both of whom made their marks), conveyed to son Richard 95 acres of the lower part of John Lanham's moiety of a tract where he now lived called Opendown. (This is probably the tract Oxmontown, December 1695.)
