      Charles County Maryland Land Record Liber X#2, 1743-1744; Page 107. At the request of William Chapman of CC, the following deed was recorded on May 12, 1744.
      I, Jane Chapman of CC, widow, for sundry good causes and for the love that I have for my son, William Chapman and grandchildren hereafter named, have given and granted, at my death, the moveables hereafter named, and which I now possess as my proper right (that is to say) 1 draft horse, 4 cows and calves, 2 heifers, 7 barrows of about 16 months old, 7 barrows about 10 months old, 1 cupboard, 6 chairs, 4 tables, 1 new bed tick, 1 pair of blankets & sheets, 1 silk rug, 1 bolster, 2 pillows, dishes, 7 plates, 4 pewter basins, 10 cider casks, 14 barrels of corn, 3000 lbs tobacco, 1 apple mill cost 3 £, 3 iron pots, 1 12-gallons, 1 7-gallons, 1 3-gallons, all of which to be divided as follows: my son William to have one-sixth part and one cow and calf; his sister Nanny's children, Ann and Zachariah, to have one-sixth part between them; his sister Elizabeth's 2 children, Jane and Lucretia to have one-sixth part between them; his sister Lucretia's 3 daughters, Elizabeth, Jane, and Chloe to have one-sixth part between them; his sister Jane's 3 daughters, Mary, Ann, and Lucretia to have one- sixth part between them; his sister Sophia's 2 sons, William & John to have one-sixth part between them. If I should alter my condition by marriage, then it is my desire that if my said supposed husband should waste any of the afd granted premises, that William Chapman should secure the same to the afds, before my death.       On the back of this deed of gift was thus endorsed, viz, CC, on May 12, 1744 came Daniel of St Thomas Jenifer and Mathew Williamson, subscribing witnesses to the within instrument in writing, and made oath that they saw the within named Jane Chapman sign, seal, and deliver the said instrument.
