      I, Robert Brent of CC, am in a low & weak state of body but of sound memory & disposing judgment.
      To my son Robert Brent - my silver tankard khan(?), my silver watch, couch, desk, & bookcase standing in the hall, my riding saddle, gun, & all my wearing apparel.
      To my daughter Mary Brent - the following Negroes, viz, Gerrard, Joe, Prise, & Ciscily & their increase, 1 feather bed & furniture & a black walnut chest of drawers standing in her room.
      To my [daughter) Teresa Brent - Nace, Jack, and Nan & their increase, 1 feather bed & furniture, & 1 large, black, walnut chest standing in her room.
      To my daughter Eleanor Brent - Negroes Davy, Charity, & Sall, & their increase, 1 feather bed & furniture, 1 black, walnut desk standing in her room.

After my debts are discharged, the residue is to be equally divided between my 5 daughters afd, or the survivors of them.
      To my son Robert Brent - all of my landed estate, reserving to my daughters, during their single state, a dwelling house, and one half of the other nescery(?) out houses now standing on the plantation, a garden, a quantity of good, arable land, pasturage, firewood, & other necessaries, agreeable to the intent of a bond heretofore passed from me to my son Robert Brent.

May 14, 1757 from Jane Parnham of CC, to Robert Brent of CC, for the yearly rent on the part of Robert Brent, the lease, to sd Robert Brendt, of a tract of land called Ferne, lying in CC, containing 299 acres, together with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, the store house and ordinary and the other houses thereunto belonging excepted. The lease starts today, and is for the natural life of sd Jane Parnham. The yearly rent is of 900 lbs of tobacco and one half of the quitrents of sd land. Brent may get whatever board or rail timber is needed for sd plantation. Brent is to allow Parnham to work 2 Negroes on sd land with his negroes, and to allow her a full share of everything sd Negroes shall make on the land afd. Bond, recorded at the request of Robert Brent Jr. I, Robert Brent Sr of CC, give bond to Robert Brent Jr of CC, in the just sum of 8000 £, this Jan 12, 1784, to warrant that I shall, by a good deed of gift, make over to sd Robert Brent Jr, all my right to all the lands and hereditaments now held and possessed by me, being parts or parcels of tracts of land called Baltimores Gift, and Sarum, near the head of Wicomico River, reserving to myself the occupation and possession of the abovesd lands and tenements during my natural life, and atter my death, a dwelling house, a tobacco house, and kitchen or garden, a quantity of good, arable land not exceeding 30 acres for corn, 12 acres for tobacco ground, and 12 acres of good land for small grain, the whole of which land is to be laid off by the afd Robert Brent Jr where he thinks will best suit, with pasturage for 6 horses, 16 cattle, 20 sheep, and 20 hogs, and privilege of cutting fire wood, for the use of my daughters, Mary, Ann, Teresa, Eleanor, Jane, and Elizabeth, while each is unmarried, or shall, in like manner, devise in my will all the above lands and tenements to my sd son, Robert Brent Jr, free from every other except the above named encumbrances.

I certify that, at the request of Samuel Briscoe, I proceeded to take the following depositions, it first appearing by disinterested testimony that the parties interested had been served with legal notice.
      Feb 10, 1786. Came Thomas Ching and made oath that at the request of Samuel Briscoe, he gave legal notice to Doc. John Parham, Revd Henry Pile, Robert Brent Sr, Robert Slye, James Hayden, William Compton, William Stephen Compton, Charles Mills, & Mrs. Barbie widow of Baptist, that the sd Samuel Briscoe intended to take the following depositions to prove the possession, occupation, and running of a certain tract of land, now in the possession of him, the sd Samuel Briscoe, to wit, Baltimores Gift, Baltimores Gift Addition, Batchelers Hope, and Morrises Hope. Sworn to before - Bent Dyson.
      The deposition of Henry Haislope, aged 80 years or thereabouts, deposes that about 74-75 years ago, at the spot where this deponent now stands on the east side of Birds Creek Run, stood a mill house belonging to John Perry, and afterwards was owned and possessed by Colo Robert Hanson, who married John Perry's widow. This deponent then removed to the west side of sd run, and about 60 yards to the north of the above named place, and says there stood a waste gate, also says that the run is now in the same place as it was when the mill was standing.
