Charles County MD Will Book 1777-1780; Page 44.
On Aug 19, 1777, Letters Testamentary were granted on the estate of Peter Davis, to Susanah Davis, his daughter and sole executrix by his will appointed. Securities = Philip Davis and William Harrison of Trinity Parish, and both of CC. Bond = 200 £Appraisers: Wm Moreton & Bennet Dyson. On Sep 6, 1777, the inventory was received, amounting to 89 £10 shillings 5 pence.

Peter Davis' Will. Aug 19, 1777, I, Peter Davis of CC, am in perfect health and sound memory, but knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make this my last will_ I want all my just debts paid.
To my daughter Susanah Davis - full possession of the land I now live upon, called Birds Head, during the time she lives a single life, and when she marries, then I give the land to my son, Eli Davis. But if Eli dies without lawful issue, then the land to fall to my son Enos Davis.
To my daughter Susanah Davis - 1 feather bed & furniture, a cow and calf, an iron pot, and her working loom that she now uses, and a woman's saddle.
To my daughter Hopesey Davis - 1 feather bed & furniture, a cow and calf, an iron pot, and her working loom that she now uses.
To my daughter Virlinda Davis - 1 feather bed & furniture, a cow and calf, 1 heifer, and an iron pot.

To my son Enos Davis - 1 feather- bed & furniture, 1 cow and calf, an iron pot, (a case of pistols and holsters to be equally divided between my 2 sons, Enos Davis and Eli Davis), but the bed, cow and calf and iron pot to Enos, and also the biggest chest and an armed chair.
To my son Eli Davis - 1 feather bed & furniture, a cow and calf, an iron pot, my saddle and bridle.
The rest of my effects I want to be equally divided between all my children.
Executrix: my daughter Susanah Davis.
Signed Apr 27, 1774 - Peter (o his mark) Davis. Wit - Sam Amery Sr, Saml Amery Jr, Catherine Amery.
On Aug 19, 1777, came Samuel Amery Jr and Catherine Amery, witnesses to the will of Peter Davis, late of CC, deceased, and made oath that they saw the testator sign and seal the same.
N.B. The heir at law to the deceased, being a minor, was not present at the taking of the above probate.

Peter Davis' Inventory. Sep 6, 1777. An inventory of the goods and chattels of Peter Davis, late of CC, deceased. Includes 11 cattle, 3 horses, 12 pigs; 5 beds, 7 flagg chairs, a parcel of old books, a pair of pistols and holsters, a parcel of planters tools. Total: 89 £10 shillings 5 pence.
After being qualified by the Worshipful John Parnham, we have appraised the goods and chattels of Peter Davis. Signed Aug 28, 1777 - William Moreton, Bennet Dyson.
Kindred: Randolph Davis, George Davis.
Creditors: John Parnham, Barnes & Ridgate.
Proved on sep 6, 1777 by the oaths of Walter Suit and Susanah, his wife, formerly Susanah Davis, executrix of Peter Davis, late of CC, deceased.

Peter Davis' Account. Feb 24, 1778.
The account of Walter Suit and Susanah, his wife, executrix of Peter Davis, late of CC.
Debts: the inventory of sd decd's estate, exhibited at Orphan Court of Sep 6 last, amounting to 111 £18 shillings pence; tobacco in the decd's house; 8 barrels of corn made on the decd's plantation the year he died; wheat made the same year, 5 bushels; money received of James Dunning; money received of Justinian Davis; money received of Walter Dent. The whole amount: 143 £5 shillings 8-1/4 pence.
Disbursements went to: Edward Semmes, Jno Gill, McPherson and Boarman in Company, Barnes and Ridgate in Company as per judgment rendered against the decd on bond in Aug Court 1774, Richard King, the Sheriff for 2 levies, Doctor Jno Farnham, rent paid the estate of George Maxwell. Balance to be disposed of according to the decd's will: 104 £4 shillings 4 pence.
Final account: 143 £5 shillings 8-1/4 pence. Securities: Philip Davis and Wm Harrison, Trinity Parish, CC. Proved Feb 24, 1778 by afd Walter Suit and Susanah, his wife.

To Elizabeth Davis, wife, personal estate; land on the north side of the Hoghouse Branch in Charles County, called "Wittan Enlarged". beginning at; the north east side of the land of John Poston, Sr., at the adjoining of the sd. Posten's and James Davis' fences, and running to the land of Samuel Johnston; slave boy called Frank, to be set free after her decease; If she dies before son James Davis, is age 21, Mathew Edwards is to take them both., at decease of wife.
Property to be divided equally bet. Peter, Absalom, Thomas, Luke and James.
