Apr. 26, 1855 - Mrs. Rachael Piles, age 72 [so b. ca. 1783],
resident of Montgomery Co., widow of Samuel D. Moreland,
applies for bounty land based on Samuel's War of 1812 service.
Rachael states that Samuel was a Private in the Companies
of Capt. Dyer and Capt. Hamilton, that they were married
Jan. 22, 1802 by Walter Addison, minister, that her former
name was Rachael Lindsey, that Samuel D. Moreland died Aug.
1815(?), and that her 2nd husband Richard Piles d. Dec. 5,
1845. Witness Mrs. Mary Wheat, resident of Washington, D.C.,
states that Richard Piles died in Montgomery Co. Dec. 5,
1845. Application rejected.
