Charles County Land Record Book A#2, 1752-1756; Page (299). Sep 5, 1754 from William Hagan of CC, planter, and Eleanor, his wife, to John Hanson of CC, planter. Since the death of John Hanson, late of CC, some disputes arose between the parties concerning the right and property of sd John's real estate, and for the quieting whereof, sd parties mutually agreed to submit the dispute to John Stoddert, Byne Smallwood, Walter Hanson, Robt Yates, and Dan of St Thos Jenifer, or any 3 of them, and to abide by their determination, the parties being bound to each other in the sum of 800 £sterling, when upon last Aug 14, the referees afd ruled that sd William Hagan and Eleanor, his wife, shall, within 30 days from the date hereof, forever quit claim a tract of land called Hansons Amendment to sd John Hanson. Now this further witnesses that sd William Hagan and Elenor, his wife, for and in consideration of the award afd and for 5 shillings sterling, have granted sd John Hanson, that tract called Hansons Amendment, lying on the east side of Portobacco [cr] in CC, and late in the tenor and occupation of John Hanson, decd, being about 500 acres, signed - Wm Hagan, Elener (X her mark) Hagan. Wit - Allen Dave (Davis) , Jas Nivison. Eleanor relinquished her right of dower to the lands within mentioned. Recorded Feb 27, 1755.
