      1284-1286. Thomas Adams recorded lease 18 March 1761, made same day between Philip Coffee, for the covenants granted herein, leases part of a tract called "Hermitage," in FC, M&B given, beginning at 4th line of tract laid out for Basill Crompton, on south side of branch which falls into Josephs Mill Branch of Rock Creek, for the term of 21 years, to be ended if the said Thomas Adams and his wife Ann, and Thomas Whiting Riggs, son of the said Ann, or either of them shall so long live, paying yearly rents of700 Ibs. tob. at some convenient landing for shipping, before the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Maryland, and the said Thomas Adams, promises, that he shall well and truly pay the yearly rents, and shall fence, preserve and keep clean and in good order, the orchard that now is on the aforesaid demised premises, and maintain the buildings thereon. Signed Philip Coffee, Thomas Adams by his mark, before Robert Lamar, Wilhn Winchester. Duty paid.
