1699-1709 Stafford County, Virginia Deed & Will Book; [Antient Press]; Page. 292- 294 Will of ROBERT ALEXANDER. I Robert Alexander of the county Stafford & Colony of Virga. Gent. being sick & weak of body .. after all my just debts are paid I give & bequeath unto my well beloved son ROBERT ALEXANDER my now dwelling plantation with houses orchards & 300 acres of land belonging to the same .. unto my well beloved son CHARLES ALEXANDER 350 acres of land it being the moiety or half of my back quarter land the uppermost half thereof commonly called John Drys Plantation .. the other half or moiety of my back land being 350 acres joining upon my Brother PHILLIP ALEXANDER I give to my son Robert Alexander .. my land and plantation lying up the river & On the upper side of Great hunting Creek in this county I bequeath to my two sons Robert & Charles Alexander the same to be equally divided between them both as to quality & quantity .. to my sort Robert Alexander negroes .. 9 in number .. to my son Charles Alexander negroes .. 7 in number .. (other of his estate to his two sons) .. I give to my Couzen ELIZA. ALEXANDER the daughter of my Brother Phillip Alexander one negro girl .. to my couzens JANE & SARAH ALEXANDER daughters of my Brother Phillip Alexander as a token of my affection 1000 pounds of Tobo. apiece to buy each of them a side saddle .. to my God son JOHN FITZHUGH a young mare .. to my God daughter ELIZA. DUNCOMB 2 cows & 2 calves .. to my Taylor JOHN ALLEN my best wearing Suit of cloaths with hat shoes and 2 good shirts and his freedom .. to my Taylor JOHN HYATT my second best suit_ of cloaths and a year of his time .. to my friends Collo. HOOE, Mr. Phill. Alexander & WILLIAM FITZHUGH a ring of 20s price .. to my mulatto Grace a cow .. appoint my loving Brother Mr. Phil. Alexander and my good friend Collo. At a Court held for Stafford County the 14th day of. June 1704
The Last Will & Testament of Robert Alexander Gent. deced proved in Court .. and Collo. Hooe in Court did refuse a probate of the will but being willing to accept the ward of the sd children of the sd deceased the Court doth grant the same Wherefore CHARLES ASHTON Gent. next of kin to the said Orphans moved for administration of ye sd Estate therefore administration with the will annexed is granted him for the admr, of the said Estate COLLO. GEORGE MASON COLLO. WILLIAM FITZHUCH became security with the said Charles Ashton for the due admon of the Estate & entered into Bond accordingly & the sd Ashton ordered to return a true & perfect Inventory of the said Estate to the next Court upon his oath & the Will ordered to be recorded & is recorded.
