Know yee yt: I sd WILL SLAUGHTER for ye love & affection wch I have & beare unto HENRY ADCOCK & PHEBE ADCOCK, Son & Daughtter of EDWARD ADCOCK, of ye same County, alsoe Gentl; & unto ELIZABETH their Mother have given unto sd HENRY & PHEBE one Tilley or mare foale two yeares old or thereaboutes of a bay colter now runing at or near ye plantacon of Major HENRY SMITH in County of Rappae: and all ye Increase of ye sd Mare foale to be equally divided between sd Children when they shall attaine to their age of discreation & in case either of them shall happen to dye before his or her sd age then to ye survivor & in case neither of them shall attaine to such age then I give & limitt ye sd Mare with her Increase to ye sd ELIZABETH & to her proper use only to have & to hold sd Mare foale with her Increase God shall send from her unto ye sd HENRY ADCOCK & ye sd PHEBEE ADCOCK according to ye Limitations aforesd from henceforth forever In Witness whereof I have sett my hand & seale ye Sixth day of September 1681 Signed Sealed & delivered in ye

PHEBE HOBSON the greatest creditor to the Estate of DORCAS CARTER, decd came into Court and made oath that the said DORCAS departed this life without making any Will so faIT as she knows or believes and upon her mocon Certificate is granter her for obtaining Letters of Adminicon on the said deceds. Estate in due form JOHN AWBREY assuming in open Court to be security for the said HOBSON's faithfull Admicon according to law. Ordered that JOHN WELLINGTON, GEORGE SOUTH, WILLIAM BERKELEY and JOHN MEDFORD or any three of them being first sworn before one of his Majesties Justices for the said County do some time before the nextCourt to be held for the County aforesaid value and appraise the said deceds. Estate in money and make report thereof to the next Court.

THIS INDENTURE made the fourth day of September in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty seven; Between GEORGE CARTER of County of Spotsylvania, Planter, of one part and PHEBEE HOBSON of aforesaid County, Widow, of other part; Witnesseth that GEORGE CARTER in consideration of the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid by PHEBEE HOBSON the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge hath and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto PHEBEE HOBSON all that parcell of land being part of a Pattent granted to ROBERT COLEMAN beareing date December the second one thousand seven hundred and twenty three and sold unto GEORGE CARTER situated in County aforesaid and Parish of Saint George and adjoyning the lands of Collo. JOHN ROBINSON and ROBERT COLEMAN being bounded, Beginning at a Stake in Collo. JOHN ROBINSON's line on a hill thence South sixty eight degrees West eighty seven poles to a white Oak by a Branch, thence South twenty degrees East ninety two poles to a red Oak and Hickory saplins on a hill in the said CARTER's back line, thence along the said line North sixty eight degrees East eighty seven poles to a white Oak and red Oak in Collo. JOHN ROBINSON's line, thence along the said line North twenty degrees West ninety two poles to the place it first began containing fifty acres of land according to the exprest bounds thereof together with the rents and profits of the land; To have and to hold the fifty acres of land and all the premises intended to be sold from the day before the date of these presents dureing the term of one whole year paying therefore the rent of one pepper corn at the Feast of Saint Michaell the Archangell only if the same be demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transferring uses into possession PHEBEE HOBSON may be in the actuall possession of the premises and be thereby enabled to take a grant of the inheritance thereof to her and her heirs; In Witness whereof GEORGE CARTER hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written
