CARROLL CHARLES, City of Annapolis. 14 Sep, 1754
To son Charles Carroll of the Middle Temple, his hrs. and assigns, real and personal estate. He to pay my wife Anne Carroll, If she survives me, the sum of 50 lbs. sterl. annually, which by marriage articles with her and George Plater, Esq., I covenanted to do in lieu of all dower and thirds.
Desire that if my latent demands should be made against estate, after decease, that said son plead the act of limitation thereto, being well assured that I can owe no such.
Advise son not to have estate appraised, to save him that exorbitant expense, as I am sure there will be more than will pay debts by many thousand pounds. I mean of personal estate for debts are very little, except to the paper office, which Is a bond of George Thorps for 100 lbs. and the money I am to pay for William Alexander's houses In this city on Severn River, amounts of which will appear in my books.
Desire ex. will pay Nicholas MacCubbin, son-In-law, and to his wife Mary Clare MacCubbin, and to his dau. Mary, and son Nicholls, and his young. son, the sum of 10 lbs. sterl., each to buy mourning.
Declare that I die in communion with the Church of England as by law established now to God The Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, and etc.
Son Charles Carroll, ex.
