      To son Edward Briscoe, negroe Winifred and a colt wigh my bay mare Bonney is now supposed to be with foal, and lastly the revertion of my real estate.
      To three sons Richard Sothoron Briscoe, Gerard Briscoe, and Philip Truman Briscoe, the revertion of all that part of my personal estate already given to my wife.

      George Dent, b. 1758 and d. 12/2/1813 in Richmond County., GA. He m. Anne Magruder Truman.
      Among their 8 children was a son named John Herbert Dent, b. 2/15/1782 and who died 7/29/1823 in SC. He had a very distinguished naval career and participated in the Battle of Tripoli along with Michael Brown Carroll (of St. Mary's Co.) about whom I just wrote an article that was published in "The Chronicles of St. Mary's", the quarterly magazine of the SMC Historical Society. John Herbert Dent served, for awhile, as the Captain of "Old Ironsides". The Battleship Dent was named for him (commissioned in 1919).

      Indenture made June 14, 1802; George Dent in consideration of 6,333 dollars 33 cents to Thomas Marshall, physician, have sold a tract of land called "Clarke's Inheritance" containing 300 acres lying on the north side of Mattawoman Swamp, beginning near Plunkett's Branch to the public road leading from Port Tobacco to Pomonkey Warehouse. Also one other tract adjoining called "Dent's Level" containing 280 acres which the said two tracts were granted to George Dent by his father's deed bearing date February 15, 1785.       At the request of John Moran the following Power of Attorney was recorded August 18, 1806
      State of Georgia - we Elizabeth Gordon Truman widow of James Truman late of Prince George's County, Maryland deceased, and Magruder Dent daughter of the said James Truman and George Dent in his own and in the right of his wife the said Ann Magruder Dent all of the County of Columbia and state of Georgia have appointed Capt. James Somerville of Prince George's County, Maryland our true and lawful attorney to sell and convey in fee simple to John Moran of Prince George's County, Maryland the northern moiety or half part of a tract of land called "Buttenton" containing 243 acres situated part in Prince Georges County, Maryland in part in CC and adjoining lands of Joshua Naylor. Which said moiety was resurveyed by Henry Truman on January 27, 1736. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this December 17 1805, Elizabeth G. Truman, Ann G. Dent, G. Dent in the presence of Thomas M. Dent (power of attorney), William Mcgar (witness), John Beall (JP) and acknowledged before John Beall, Justice of the Peace

      Indenture made April 10, 1806; between Capt. James Sumrall of Prince George's County, Maryland of the one part and John Moran of the other part. Whereas Elizabeth Gordon Truman widow of James Truman late of Prince George's County, Maryland deceased, and Magruder Dent daughter of the said James Truman and George Dent in his own and in the right of his wife the said Ann Magruder Dent all of the County of Columbia and state of Georgia did by their joint power of attorney duly executed appoint Capt. James Somerville thereto and lawful attorney on their behalf to convey in fee simple to John Moran the northern moiety of a tract of land called "Buttenton". Now this indenture witnesseth that James Somerville in consideration of $1250 paid by John Moran and by virtue of his power of attorney has sold unto John Moran the aforesaid tract of land.
